Objects May Be Closer Than They Appear

My love
How can you be so blind?
How can you not see?
I am standing with you right here
But you do not see me

You can only look behind you
How far into the past is your mind?
How do you preoccupy your heart and soul
With what you've left behind?

How can you clearly see the future
When you can only see the past?
How can you see me standing here
When you're running away so fast?

So look at me when you get further along the road
I'm the tiny woman in your rear-view mirror
I'm the one that's waving to you
I'm the one that's saying goodbye
