Tears

Tears

A Poem by Kae Martyndale

Tears

The salt,
The water
That stings the eyes
And the wounds
They start slowly
And then the flood begins
Flowing strongly
And thoughtlessly
Trying to take away the pain
Trying to ease the suffering
But never succeeding in their attempts
The stinging, the warm salty tears
All so familiar, yet every time unique.
They always have a story
Of loves lost. Lives lost.
They spread their stories to the world
Through the salt, through the water
That flows from the eyes
The tears.
