Yellow Ribbon

Yellow Ribbon

A Poem by Kala Benfield
"

I miss you already

"
Hold below the
ribbon falls,
off the tree
and then we crawl.
I hoped this day
would never come.
Now my fears
are overrun.

Your guns are loaded.
The shells are cased.
Ready and packed.
Its almost your day.

I'm nearly scared
to death.
Praying never to get
that letter.
Knowing there's a thousand
more to come,
obstructing the view of
it getting better.

I love you,
is all i can say.
In the end there
will be nothing left,
and my colors will
fade to grey.

Carving and sketching
love in my bones.
Twice written.
Once loved.
Perched on my high
held thrown.

Forever is bounded
by boots,
and barbed wire.
Cut it short by the
rifle. Bleeding through
your last logics.
Trending your
loves losing's fire.
