A Reason?

A Reason?

A Poem by Different Wings

"Everything happens for a reason," they say.
But did they stop to think about it?
Why are we here if there's already a reason for everything?
Is this event going to happen
so that something else can occur
so that something else can transpire
until we're dead, and then
this life has happened so that more can live?
What's the ultimate reason and why should we live with it as an excuse?

Can we not carve our own path?
Choose our own paintbrush for our own reason?

Awesome thought! It is something that has never occurred to me.
Minor edits:
But did--> But do (because you use "say")
It sounds like you use transpire just because you don't want to re-use happen or occur.
What's--> What is
I LOVE the excuse line. This is beautiful. Perfect formatting choice also.
A thought: for the last line, canvas instead of reason?
