![]() Yes. No. Maybe?A Story by Kam![]() When unemployed Tristan finds himself at the “over hype,” “snobby,” and “untalented” Lance concert, what are the chances of the unthinkable happening? Enemies to lovers? Boyfriends? Yes. No. Maybe?![]() { 🏳️🌈 ~ Prologue ~ 🎤}Sunday, July 16 2024: London, United KingdomTristan was lying in bed, wearing blue satin pajamas that shimmered softly under the dim glow of his bedside lamp. The clock on his nightstand was approaching 10:30 PM on Sunday, July 16. He was fully aware that he needed to get a good night’s sleep, for he had an important job interview awaiting him in the morning. Working in a plant shop had always been Tristan's dream career and with his degree in phytology, the study of plants, this interview represented a significant step toward him achieving that dream. As he began to plug in his phone, he set the alarm for 5:30 AM, absentmindedly forgetting to switch it to sleep mode. With a deep sigh, he closed his eyes hoping to slip into a deep sleep. However, the silence was short-lived. The sharp buzz of his phone sliced through the stillness jolting him back awake. He hadn’t truly fallen asleep; a mere three minutes had passed since he closed his eyes, but the buzzing noise, intrusive and unwelcome, irritated him enough to realize his mistake in not adjusting his phone settings. With a small yawn, he reluctantly reached for his phone, curious about the source of the disturbance. Typically, he would have ignored any until morning, but something felt different; something about the message felt urgent. When he gazed at his screen, his heart began to race at the sight of a message from his closest friend, Levi. He knew Levi well enough to understand when something was off; it was unusual for him to reach out at such an hour. It was not unusual for Levi to send spontaneous messages, especially since they had been inseparable since high school, however, this message felt different. There was something pulling Tristan to read the message and the feeling wasn’t easing. He somehow knew it wasn't going to be a casual hello or a silly text; it felt like something was wrong and his instincts knew it before even reading the message. Tristan’s gaze was fixed on his screen, the message icon staring back at him, beckoning him to open it. His hands started to shake slightly as he hesitated, unsure of what the message might say. Low and behold, his instincts were correct. The message was about Kara, Levi's girlfriend, and it immediately sent a wave of worry through Tristan. As he read the message, a whirlwind of emotions flowed through him"anger, empathy, and even fear. He was completely gobsmacked. Despite his emotions still building inside his head, the only thing that truly mattered to him was reaching Levi as quickly as possible. Kara had done something Tristan never anticipated: she had ended their whole relationship within a single text. Although this wasn’t Levi’s first relationship, it was certainly the longest. For two years, he had been deeply in love with Kara, and Tristan found it unimaginable that she would end it so suddenly. She couldn’t even muster the courage for a face-to-face conversation and instead opted to break the news via text. Tristan never really liked Kara and this made his hatred for her boil even more. He couldn't even begin to imagine how Levi felt, the person he has loved for so long, planned to propose to, and first true love, had to have broken every piece of his heart and Tristan knew he had to put his personal emotions aside and help him as best as he could. No matter if he had his dream job interview or a personal meeting with King Charles III the next day, the right thing for any true friend to do is drop everything to be with your best friend. Before Tristan set off, he quickly grabbed a tub of strawberry ice cream"Levi’s favorite"and a Red Velvet Bundt cake he had intended to enjoy earlier but had forgotten about. He also noticed a box of tissues on the entry hall table and decided to take those as well, knowing there would likely be tears shed that night. He felt a wave of relief for having checked the notification; he would have never forgave himself if he had been soundly asleep while Levi needed him. Levi needed comfort, a shoulder to cry on at the very least, and that person needed to be Tristan. Fortunately, Levi and Tristan lived in single-bedroom apartments right next to each other, and in moments like this, Tristan was grateful for that arrangement. But even if they had decided to move to opposite ends of the city or even different countries after college, he would have driven for days to be with Levi, because that is what any good friend would do right? Yes. No. Maybe { 🏳️🌈 ~ Chapter One ~ 🎤}It only takes a thirty-second jog to reach Levi’s apartment. The door stood ajar, providing relief to Tristanas he didn’t need to dig into his pocket for the spare key he put there while rushing out the door. When he finally arrived at Levi’s room, a sense of fear filled him. He carefully placed the ice cream and Bundt cake on the bedside table, anxious to see how Levi was handling the situation. Levi’s phone caught Tristan’s eye, lying open on the bed, revealing a painful message from Kara. The words on the tiny screen seemed to cut through the air. "Levi, I can’t bear the pain of lying to you any longer. I’ve been sneaking around and doing things I never thought I could do to someone I loved. It hurts me to say this, but this can’t continue. I’ve found someone else, and for the first time in a long while, I’m genuinely happy… I’m sorry it couldn’t be with you, but this is what I need to do. I’m truly sorry, but this is goodbye." Levi stared blankly at the screen, his face an emotionless mask. There were no tears rolling down his cheeks, no sniffles that would indicate he was affected. Instead, he wore an expression of shock, as if he couldn’t quite grasp the reality of the words. Not wanting to leave Levi in his despair, Tristan approached him carefully, laying a gentle hand on his back. He aimed to provide comfort without overwhelming him further. Levi didn’t immediately respond, for his mind was likely racing with thousands of thoughts and memories. After about twenty seconds, he started to register Tristan’s presence and looked up, tears beginning to form in his eyes. Inside, Levi felt lost. He started to reflect on the countless texts he had received over the past weeks that were now painfully clear and had alternative motives. Messages like: “I’m taking extra shifts tonight, see you tomorrow morning,” and “I got caught in terrible traffic but will be there soon” now felt like deceitful games. He couldn't shake the thoughts that flooded his mind. ‘Why didn’t I see this coming? Why didn’t I confront her? What went wrong?’ His thoughts spiraled further into darkness. ‘Why did she cheat? Am I just not enough? Did she ever truly love me?’ Noticing Levi growing increasingly withdrawn, Tristan knew he had to redirect his focus. He needed to pull Levi out of the whirlwind of thoughts swirling in his head. Tristanoffered him a box of tissues and said softly, “Levi, could you please look at me for a second? I can see your mind is racing. It’s okay if you don’t feel like talking right now, but I want you to know I’m here to listen. You don’t have to say anything if you’re not ready. We can cuddle, enjoy some ice cream, or I can step out for a bit if that’s what you prefer. But I won’t let you spiral into negative thoughts. I know you well enough to see when that happens.” After a few more seconds filled with tension, Levi’s voice came out shaky and almost difficult to understand. “P..please s..stay. I..I don’t w..want you to l..leave me.” “I will always be here for you,” Tristanreplied firmly, wrapping his arms around Levi in a warm and comforting hug. Their positions on the bed felt a little awkward, yet they held the embrace for several minutes. Tristan didn’t mind that his pajamas were slowly getting damp from Levi's tears. The only thing on his mind was the need to provide a safe space for his best friend. “I brought your favorite ice cream and a Bundt cake, but I’m so sorry I forgot to grab forks or spoons while on the way here. What was I thinking? Do you want me to go get some utensils, or should I just stay with you?” “C..can I come with you to get the utensils? I d..don’t want to be alone in this room. It holds too many m..memories.” “Absolutely! How about we hang out in the living room for now? The couch is really big and comfy,” Tristan suggested, eager to help Levi feel more at ease. “Yes. Thank you, H, for d..doing this for me. I l..love you so much.” A small smile crept onto Tristan's face at Levi's words. He cherished Levi's affection and wanted to shower him with the support he deserved, especially after the pain caused by Kara. No one should ever have to experience betrayal or deceit in a relationship. They made their way to the kitchen, retrieved the necessary utensils, and headed to the living room. The couch, while not the largest piece of furniture in the apartment, provided enough space for Tristan to keep Levi close as they ate and cuddled. As they settled into the couch, the exhaustion was evident in Levi's eyes and by the time their dessert was finished, Levi was drifting to sleep. Before Tristan could get to sleep, he turned off his alarm to wake up in time for his job interview in the morning because being there for Levi was far more important than any interview right?… Yes. No. Maybe? { 🏳️🌈 ~ Chapter Two ~ 🎤}It’s around 10:15 am when Tristan wakes up and realizes Levi is nowhere to be seen. He starts to panic and immediately rushes to the bathroom, what if he felt sick, had to throw up, and he wasn’t there for him?? To Tristan’s surprise, he ends up finding Levi sipping on some tea in the kitchen and that eased a lot of his build up tension . “Good morning, did you sleep alright? I see you already made some tea, but do you want some breakfast along with that, or are you not in the mood to eat?” Tristan starts to ramble on while trying to just start a conversation. He might not be the best morning person, but there were way bigger priorities than mastering HIS skills at starting a conversation when he really just needs Levi to talk to him. “Morning H, I didn’t want to wake you so I just decided to come in here for a little bit. I slept better than I thought I would, thank you for coming over. I really needed you. If you don’t mind making breakfast that would be really nice, or I could order some food. I really just don’t feel like cooking.” “I don’t mind cooking Li, anything you would like in particular,” Tristan asked even though he already knew the answer; 2 strips of bacon and a few pancakes (you could never have to many) Tristan makes breakfast for the two of them before he suggests for them to have a talk. He knows Levi wants to keep his emotions built up, pretending like nothing ever happened, but Tristan knows he really needs to talk about his feelings from last night, those thoughts can’t stay built up in his head just because he is stubborn! So, Tristan tries to pry something out of him: “Levi, can you try and talk to me? I know you are the type of person to keep their feelings to themselves, but if you are willing to open up about those thoughts in your head I think it would be really beneficial …and I’m here to listen and support you! No matter what happens! Nothing you say will ever turn me away, please know that. I love you so much and nothing you say can change that, but I just want to help you…please” “I don’t really know where to begin… I loved her, Tristan, and to just know my love meant absolutely nothing to her, breaks me! She was able to throw it all away in just one single text message. I thought she was my soulmate, my forever person, but clearly I don’t know anything…I guess the first thing that came to my mind yesterday was ‘Why did this happen?’ It could have been many things, from my personality to mental problems, or maybe I didn’t show her enough love. Tristan, I just..I don’t know how to feel. You know this has been my longest relationship, and I feel like she built me up piece by piece, which took months, to just tear me down within minutes! T…” he begins quietly, crystal tears slowly starting to fill his eyes. “She ended it through text…I didn't even get to see her one last time… D..did she even love me..? The amount of times she has said those t..t..three precious words and I bet they meant nothing to her….I didn't even mean anything to her. Just a two year fling..T… how do you even begin to process this..? It hurts.. S-so, so so much” Tristan sits on the couch listening to every word he is willing to say. He gives Levi a chance to take a deep breath and continue in case he needs to get anything else out before Tristan begins speaking. Levi greatly appreciated not being interrupted because there were so many more things he needed to get off his chest. During Tristan and Levi’s conversation this morning, Tristan tried to help him understand he is loved, but it was hard for him to believe that he couldn't even count on ‘love’ if the one person he loved the most cheated on him and acted like it was ‘normal’. She introduced him to the idea of a relationship; before they started dating, Levi was at his worst. He barely even trusted Tristan! But one day while studying in a local coffee shop a girl asked for his number. He didn’t know what to do, so he just gave her the number with no further intention. They started to talk and Levi felt really comfortable with her. Slowly over the years their relationship began to flourish as he slowly let her in and started to trust her more and more. But now, he doesn’t know how he can ever give someone so much trust ever again. He thought Kara was his everything, but it seemed to her he meant nothing. He wants to know how all the trust he thought they had was so easily manipulated and broken. He sat there with his thoughts for a little longer before excusing himself to the bathroom to ‘take a shower.’ Did Levi need to go to take a shower? Yes. Was that why he was in the bathroom? No. He wanted an explanation. He wanted an actual answer to his questions! He needed to know why Kara cheated on him. He spent a few more minutes in his head, memories continuously flooding his mind before taking out his phone to respond to the message that broke him just hours ago.. He wants an explanation. The real reason. * * * * * * * * * What I said in my breakup message wasn't necessarily true. I didn't want to explain this to you, but you leave me no choice when you decide to blow up my phone after I told you we are over. To answer your question on why I did this to you is because I never really cared about cheating on you but now that you don't satisfy my needs in a relationship on top of the fact I never loved you I had to end it. So to answer any further questions you still might have, you simply weren't good enough for me. As he read her response to his question, more and more tears started to stream down his face. He can hear Tristan say: “Hey Levi, everything alright?” from outside the bathroom door, but what is he supposed to say? ‘Oh hey Tristan, by the way, I lied to you and instead of taking a shower I decided to talk to my ex and she told me how I’m s****y, worthless and most of all never worthy of any love, especially hers? ’ Yeah because that would go great. … “Levi?!” …”T…Tr..Tristan” are the only words able to come out of his mouth. He needed someone, anyone, to comfort him because all he wanted to do in this moment was to sleep and never wake up again. Luckily the bathroom door was unlocked and Tristan was able to come in with just a twist of a knob. He sees Levi on the floor crying ‘what did he do to get himself in this state’ he thinks. ‘Wasn’t he supposed to be taking a shower?? Clearly he did something else, I hope it’s nothing to do with Kara. That would really mess with his head. I was so close to getting him somewhat calmed down and now it feels like we're back at 0% better.’ “Tr..Tristan. I’m so s..sorry. I should have listened t..to you” Levi says between sobs. “Levi, come on I got you, let’s go sit down on the couch and get out of this bathroom”. Tristan never really liked Kara. Even though she made Levi really happy especially after helping him out of his stage of depression there was always something off about her. Although he always had a small amount of hatred towards her, never did Tristan expect her to leave him like this! First of all, what a s****y thing for a person to do and second, this really made Tristan realize how much better Levi deserves! If only he could get Levi to think that about himself. “I’m w..worthless Tristan. I’m not good enough for a..anyone! I don’t deserve Kara or even you as a friend. For goodness sake, even my own family left me, now I understand why. I don't deserve anyone..I..I” Tristan didn’t know what to do. Does he need someone to comfort him? Put him in his place? Nothing at all? WHAT DOES HE NEED??? Tristan decides to give him a harsher tone to get him out of his head and then let him down with some comfort. He is in a sensitive head space and the last thing he needs is more drama, so the only way he could think of starting to help Levi is by screaming his name so hopefully he comes back to earth with his thoughts. “LEVI! Stop crying, she is not worth the tears. We are going to walk out of this bathroom and talk. Hopefully you can explain what just happened to me. Can you do that for me? I want to help you, but you are making it impossible for me to understand anything if you can’t form actual words. I love you but I really need you to calm down so I can help and understand you.” * * * * * * * * * Tristan and Levi talked for around 4 hours and it really helped him clear his head. He took a lot of the advice given to him and it helped him see all the perspectives of the situation. Will it always hurt him? Yes. She was his first real girlfriend and the one that helped him when he was at a major low when his family kicked him out of the house after highschool. Even Tristan wasn't there for him during the first part of the depression because their friendship was just developing. So will it get better? In Tristan’s eyes, yes. Levi’s, no, but really and truly the answer is just maybe. It really just depends on when he accepts it and decides to heal himself and Tristan has made it his biggest goal as his best friend to be there for him through it all. No matter what the answer might be right now, Levi needs to be distracted before making a mistake like texting Kara again, for today was to be filled with everything EXCEPT thinking about the events from the past 12 hours. * * * * * * * * * They end up deciding to play the board game Scrabble to stop thinking about the problems in life and instead, focus on the current positives because everything will be fine. He will get through this break up. He will realize he is worthy. He will see how loved he is. And most importantly, love himself again…but… if the current thoughts going through Levi's head continue to make an impact on his mental health, then the healing may take a lot longer than Tristan expected. Unfortunately for Tristan's plan on helping Levi, Levi's thoughts had other plans: ‘I won’t ever be loved again. I’m not lovable. I’m not even likable. That’s why Kara, my family, and all my childhood friends left me so easily. The only reason I even have Tristan is for pity. Tristan doesn’t want me, I don’t blame him who would. It’s just all an act he plays because he doesn’t know how to stop being friends with me. How do you continue to be friends with a person whose brain is as messed up as mine?? The answer is really simple, you just leave them and find a better life for yourself. Easy. It’s clear that I'M the problem.’ To Levi in this current moment of thought, this wasn't a ‘yes, no or maybe’ situation, he was the problem. { 🏳️🌈 ~ Chapter Three ~ 🎤}Later that day, Tristan was content that I was mentally well enough to be home by himself. My emotions started to settle down and the presence of tears stains on my cheeks began to fade. I realized after he left, that earlier this week he had mentioned his job interview was supposed to have taken place this morning, but because of me he wasn't able to go to it. He has been looking forward to his chance to get his dream job and I hate the fact that I was the reason this dream couldn't come true Yes, I was heartbroken and upset, but that's not a reason to keep my friend from that interview. I wish I would have remembered that before going to sleep or sending him that message… OH MY GOD!!!... Speaking of forgetting things, I just remembered that tomorrow is the day of the concert that I have been waiting for months. The Lance Tomlinson concert. I mean, it probably isn't the best time for the concert to actually come around due to my current circumstance, but it's here and there is NO way I am going to miss it. This concert was supposed to be for me and Kara; I invited Kara to this concert, I was supposed to spend the whole day with Kara tomorrow, and now I have a ticket that won't be used. I will have to spend what was supposed to be the night of my life by myself for right now I am currently heartbroken, single, and holding my whole life together by a single piece of tearing thread. After a while of contemplation, I decided to invite someone else instead. There's no reason I should be in bed, by myself, continually contemplating my thoughts. This concert is a chance to let loose and enjoy the night with who was supposed to be my girlfriend, but instead of letting her take control of this moment I have decided to spend it with someone way more important: my best friend! Except there is one problem, he hates Lance Forest. He sees him as a snobby celebrity that thinks he's ‘all that’ and can't sing. In reality he can sing and he has one of the most angelic voices of all time. If he would only give him a shot he would see this, so I have made it my personal goal to get Tristan to that concert and began to text him. Levi: Tristannnnnnnnnnnnnnn 🙃 Tristan: Levi..? Levi: Thank you for the last 24 hours, really don't know what I would have done if I didn't have you Tristan: Anytime Levi! I live right next door, even if its 2am you can always come over or I can go over there. Tristan: Was there anything else you needed or just thanking me…? Levi: Well…since you seem to know me so well I will just spit it out. I have 2 questions! Levi: 1. You didn’t go to the job interview did you?! Tristan: Levi, you are more important than any job. Yes, I would have loved to work in the small flower shop, but maybe it’s just not meant to be Tristan: Also, you just said you really don't know what you would have done without me… Levi: You have been talking about this job interview for a week, at least contact the store owner and give them a reason as to why you couldn't make it. Levi: If not for you, for me. I already feel like s**t for making you miss the first interview, but maybe you can get a second shot? Tristan: If it will make you happy, I guess Tristan: Now what's your second question? Levi: Right, this one is going to take a lot more convincing. Can you please go to a concert with me tomorrow? Tristan: Sure! That sounds like a blast, who’s playing? Levi: That's the problem… Tristan: ??? Levi: It's Lance Forest. AND before you s no, take into consideration I have no one else to go with :( Tristan: NO. Not going. Nothing you can do to make me go. Not happening. No. NO. nope. Nada. NEGATIVE. Levi: I knew you wouldn't want to go that's why I invited KAra instead, but… well…yeah Tristan: no. Levi: Please T, you know it's my dream concert and I spent so much money on these tickets for me and her… Tristan: This has to be some type of backwards guilt tripping blackmail 🙄 Levi: 🥺🥺🥺 Levi: Pleaseeeeeeee, T… Tristan: Levi, you know how much I don't like him. Levi: Buttt you need to give him an actual chance Levi: If you won't do it for me do it for the kindness in your heart. You're always talking about treating people with kindness, but so far you haven't given him a fair shot, which is not very kind of you. Tristan: Ugh fine. But only because I feel bad now Levi: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love you soooo much, I'm so glad we're friends. Tristan: Yeah yeah, I know. When are we leaving? Levi: 9 am tomorrow! Tristan: Jeez, give a guy a warning next time. I mean what am I going to even wear?? I don't have the time or money to go out and get an outfit, you know I haven't found a job yet Levi: You can find something, it's not like we're meeting anyone cute there anyways. Your closet would out style Gucci anyday, I think you can come up with an outfit Tristan: Okay now Li, I don't have that good of style but thank you. I'll find something. See you then. Levi: Okay! We can get breakfast and then head to the concert after Tristan: Sounds good! Any other plans I should know of? Levi: I mean, idk. Yes. No. Maybe? { 🏳️🌈 ~ Chapter Four ~ 🎤}It's the next morning and NOTHING is going to plan for Levi. He still has no idea what he’s going to wear and it is already 8 am. He planned to be at Tristan’s apartment no later than 9:01 am and at the rate he was going at, he was lucky to get there by the end of the day. He needed to get out of bed, brush his teeth and basically all the normal human functions he hasn't done since her message. Levi might have been sad because of the recent breakup, but he knew he couldn't let it affect his night at this once in a lifetime concert. He had to get out of bed, find clothes, and get ready because for the first time since the breakup, he felt the wave of energy he's been needing to show himself he deserved to have a life after Kara. * * * * * * * * * He ended up settling on a clean look for his outfit, including a cream collared shirt and matching pair of baggy jeans. He added a (fake) chain and white shoes before touching up his hair and finally, he was content with his look. Right before leaving for Tristan's, he picked up his phone and saw a notification pop up, it was a tweet from Lance Forest. He opened the notification to see an entry to win a giveaway for backstage passes with Lance at the concert tonight. The tweet said: “Surprise! Backstage passes fro my show tonight. ENtries available for ONE house. Good luck. (Must currently have a ticket to the show and have your DMs open. Winner will be chosen randomly.” When it comes to giveaways he always thought they were pointless or fake, but there’s never harm in trying. So, he liked the post, retweeted it, and explained why he wanted the passes in the comment section, as stated in the picture attached to the post. The reasoning behind his comment wasn’t to make people feel pity for him, it was just what his heart felt like he needed to say and it flowed out of him like a wave, the words arranging themselves naturally as if guided by an unknown entity. “Wow, I can’t believe you made this an opportunity for tonight's show! This is something I will always love about you. The love and kindness you have for your fans. Your music has helped me through some of my darkest times since I was 18; one of these times being my current breakup as of a few days ago. Whether I win or lose, to know I will be able to see you live is the best thing I have ever hoped for” After completing the required task to enter the giveaway, he was back to the original plan: knocking on Tristan’s door no later than 9:01, go get breakfast, head to the concert, and have a blast going to see the artist of his dreams. It was 9:01 when Levi knocked on Tristan’s door. (Perfect timing as always and the plan was going just as it should) He waited a few minutes for Tristan to come out. He settled on wearing an iridescent, see-through, blue polo, with all of the buttons unbuttoned except for the last one. He paired it with teal overalls connected by white straps and towel dried hair that was still a little bit wet from his recent shower. He could not believe the amount of effort put into this outfit, especially considering Tristan’s hatred for Lance. If he wasn't straight, he would definitely be crushing on him right now. “Damn Tristan, you're really trying to show off considering how much you hate Lance. Are you trying to make me feel underdressed? I mean I'm over here wearing a simple tight black shirt, tan trousers, and some chains and you come out looking hot like a model.” Levi says in a joking manner. “I mean I can change into something simpler if that’s what you prefer, but if I’m going to this s****y concert I might as well look good for it right?” Levi laughs while motioning Tristan to his car in the parking lot of the apartments. He loved being able to have playful banter with his friends and it especially helped him when he was feeling down. While they were at breakfast, Levi felt this weird feeling. He didn’t know why, but being around his only friend in the whole wide world AND it being just hours away from his dream concert gave him this awkward..? amazing…? intense..? feeling. They decided to go to a small bagel shop close to the place where the concert would be held. He didn’t want to eat at the concert due to the insane prices on top of the tickets and tour merch. Not to mention, he just graduated college and only has a decent paying job at a local bakery. At first he thought it would be a great job in college, but he is still working on finding the job of his dreams so he can quit. It’s not easy to live in Nashville Tennessee with such a limited budget, but he makes it work. On the other hand, Tristan has a degree in phytology, the study of plants, and currently is unemployed. He has always loved the beauty and the presence of plants so he pursued his interests and it turned out to be the thing he chose to study in college. The only problem is the chance of him getting a high salary job is small. Not many jobs revolve around plants, but luckily he saved some money while working part-time at a bar during his time at college so as he is searching for a job he can still make ends meet. (As long as he uses his money wisely) He genuinely regretted missing the opportunity to attend that interview, but he knows it was more important to support his friend and that's what he did. It was not a matter of choosing between Levi and his career; he felt responsible to help his friend at that given point in time. However, was that the correct decision, especially given the possibility that he might never secure the job… Yes. No. Maybe? { 🏳️🌈 ~ Chapter Five ~ 🎤}As they were eating their cheap bagels and coffee, Levi saw a ‘direct message’ notification from Twitter. He opens it and is shocked at the words he reads. It’s from Lance Frost’s manager- THE Sam Campbell. The expression on his face begins to frighten Tristan because Levi wasn’t able to make out words. He won the backstage passes to his dream concert. He: Levi Jameson, won something. He will breathe the same air as Lance Tomlinson. He will see the behind the scenes of shows. He doesn’t have nosebleed seats. He gets to experience the hopes and dreams of millions of people all across the world. Tristan is now hovering over Levi’s shoulder impatiently because of how long it took him to try (and fail) to put words to the expression on his face. He realizes it's a message from Sam. As much as he hates Lance, he knows how much this means to Levi and can’t help but let out a squeal. The message states: “Hello Levi, I hope you are having an amazing day, but I think I might make it a bit better…Congratulations! You won the recent giveaway for two backstage passes to the M.O.D 28 concert tonight (July, 18 2023) featuring lead singer: Louis Tomlinson. Please respond as soon as possible so we can work out the details on your newly won passes. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Sam Campbell (M.O.D 28 Manager)” Tristan begins to think of the positives of the night ahead and how maybe the night won’t be so bad after all. Yes he will have to listen to some s**t music, but it’s pretty f*****g cool to meet a celebrity backstage. It's always been his life motto to be a glass half full persona and to treat others with kindness, so the best way for them both to have a great night is to match Levis' energy. “Levi, I’m so happy for you!! Message him back, we don’t have much time till the concert and oh my god, so many things have just changed. I mean what if we don’t make it there in time or we have already waited too long to reply or…” “Tristan" Tristan. Chill. For someone who hates this singer, you sure do seem worried…But you know, you don’t have to lie to me. Do you secretly like Lance?” Levi says with a devious smile. “What?!? NO?! I mean..yeah..like…y..you know..well..JUST TEXT SAM HIM BACK!” Tristan says as his checks slowly start to form a bright red tint. The conversation went well. They pretty much ironed out the details of everything that was going to happen and when they will meet. The only weird thing about it was how scripted the conversation sounded… For example, when Levi mentioned bringing Tristan to be the other holder of the backstage pass, Sam became extremely questioning about his relationship with Tristan. He asked questions such as if they were in a relationship together, if they were anything more than just friends, sexualities and became very… homophobic despite him saying multiple times they were friends and always will be just FRIENDS.
Also, after all of that conndrome he laid down some pretty intense rules for when they got to the Arena: “1. The first thing you will do when you arrive in your private room is you will have to sign NDAs. Nothing I text you, Lance says off the record, or behind the scenes information can be disclosed to anyone. 2. As the concert is being held you are to be standing off stage or in your private room (tv will be provided). You are not allowed to be roaming around unless with someone in charge. Do you understand?” Of course Levi and Tristan both agreed to the rules because no one would turn down this opportunity for backstage passes, but as they were finishing their breakfast they both couldn't help but wonder why Lance’s manager was so strict when it came to his rules. It almost seemed like he was hiding something that couldn't be disclosed to the public..? Yes. No. Maybe { 🏳️🌈 ~ Chapter Six ~ 🎤}Tristan was freaking out! Ever since he met Levi, he had been keeping a big secret, and now he was about to be in a position where it could become glaringly obvious. He knew that if the secret were to come out tonight, their friendship wouldn’t be affected, but that didn't change the fact that he was still scared for what tonight was going to bring. So far, he hasn't told anyone about his sexuality, and of course he wants to tell his best friend first, but there's this layer of fear that he can't seem to shake out of his head. Not because he didn't think Levi would support or accept him, but the constant spiraling thoughts of the worst things that would never end up happening. He realized he was gay during his junior year of high school when he first saw a glimpse of Lance on TV. Lance was promoting his new album called “Paradise,” on the Late Night Talk Show with host James Cordine by performing the track “All Along.” While watching Lance and the way his fringe falled effortlessly across his forehead, the piercing color of his blue eyes every time he looked up at the crowd, and the sound of his voice made Tristan’s stomach do backflips over and over and over again. Although he had noticed guys before, nothing compared to the way he felt when he saw Lance for the first time. That moment confirmed his feelings for him and solidified his realization of his sexuality. Since then, he has found some guys cute while walking down a street or scrolling on the internet, but nothing was as close in comparison to when he first saw Lance. Lance will always be his celebrity crush and how he first knew he was gay. Though he has dated a few guys off and on in college, he has always been able to keep his love life a secret from Levi. He is totally unsure about how to open up and share that part of himself. He had come to accept that he was gay and he needed to tell Levi, but having to tell someone something as personal as that was scary. Countless times, he wanted to let it slip and blurt it out, but he didn't want Levi to build up the walls against Tristan that he's just spent years tearing down. Because of this, he never found the right time to tell him and now every time Lance is mentioned he tries to come up with some reason as to why he doesn't like him in order to avoid revealing his true emotions. As a result, one small lie spiraled into a flood of anxiety, threatening to overwhelm him if his secret were to ever come to light. Now, he was about to be face to face with the man he has had a crush on since he was 16. He didn’t know how to handle himself around his celebrity crush, lord he couldn't even figure out how to come out to his best friend. So, it was safe to say Tristan had a valid reason to be freaking the f**k out. He was trying to come up with a way to hide the lies he's been compiling while keeping up the facade that he thinks Lance is a “snobby and untalented singer.” which were honestly the fakest words he has ever spoken. Tristan didn't know what the night ahead held for them, but he for sure knew it would be interesting to find out. On the other hand, Levi was freaking out because he’s been waiting to go to this concert since he first listened to M.O.D 28. The fact he has this one in a lifetime opportunity to go backstage and meet the person that had gotten him through most of his struggles in his life is still unfathomable to him. Lance’s music has helped him through so much in life. He didn't have the easiest childhood when it came to his relationship with his parents and because of that he was left very broken inside. If it weren't for Lance's music he didn't know if he would be here right now. His childhood memories were filled with the screams of two drunk parents and the sound of objects shattering against his childhood home walls. Many days he wished he grew up differently and had one of those quiet and peaceful households. He always dreamed of having a loving mom who was there to hold him through it all and a dad to play sports with or talk to him through his relationships till one day he had enough and left. He was in his senior year of high school that day and it's a very vivid day that will never leave his mind. Levi wasn't one to deal with his emotions in the most healthy way but after years and years of arguments, fights and cleaning up glass he couldn’t take it anymore. Enough was enough and he packed his bags, wrote a letter goodbye, and left for his (at the time) girlfriend's house. Unfortunately, he didn't grow up the way that he wanted, but he has learned to come to accept that and move on from his past with the help of music and his friends, especially since he met Tristan. Tristan coming into his life was like God finally turning everything around for the better. It was the first time he felt free to show his emotions and able to build a friendship with someone because he felt truly cared for. At first he didn't want to open up or share anything about himself because it was scary after his past experiences, but as time moved on and Tristan continued to be there for him he felt comfortable enough to tell him about his childhood. After many talks and supporting each other they both realized how much those conversations helped to grow their friendship and blossom into what they have today. He may have not had the best life growing up but because of that, it led him to be able to develop a lifelong friendship and to him that was worth everything he went through in his childhood years. This is when he realized that everything in his life has happened for a reason. Even this chance to meet Lance backstage has a purpose in his story. Yes. No. Maybe? { 🏳️🌈 ~ Chapter Seven ~ 🎤}Tuesday, July 18 2023: The O2, LondonI am freaking out pacing around my dressing room, trying to think of every case scenario on how the evening will play out and in result causing more and more anxiety to build within me. I don't know what to expect from tonight considering there were so many questions I have regarding what was even happening. This morning Sam randomly threw on me the fact that I will be having a backstage meet and greet. Of course I’m happy to meet my fans, but I hate not being told about it in advance. Sam has this tendency to be an overall s****y manager when it comes to taking in my feelings for things and only doing what is best for my public image.I had planned for tonight to be an easy going night before my show, probably sitting back with my best friend Nate and having a few beers and chatting with Legacy, but no Sam. Feel free to throw in a meet and greet 12 hours before I go on stage without asking for my viewpoint on it.I hear a knock at the door and walk over to it hoping the person on the other side will calm my nerves and not build up even more. I open it to find Legacy.Legacy and I have been friends since I got into the music industry. She is a famous female artist who has been on 6 famous headlining tours. Everyone knows Legacy and I fortunately have gotten the chance to build a friendship with her despite our struggles. At first, we didn't meet on the best terms. When Sam first began as my manager I signed a long contract that entailed a lot of things I didn't realize would affect me as much as they do now. I was 18, freshly out of highschool, looking to explore my love for music and Sam was my only option.Come to find out many years later, Sam has full legal control of me and because of this I cannot get out of the contract till I complete the requirements of 3 solo concert tours. This is my second third and boy has it been a long journey to get this far.Back to Legacy, when we first met it was necessarily on good terms. Sam decided I needed a beard to cover up for me being gay and Legacy was that solution. Without taking my views into account (because what I think doesn't matter) he forced us to do paps together causing us to be on multiple news headlines. While we have now decided to be friends, those romantic feelings will never actually be true. I am very much so gay and Legacy is pansexual. Throughout the years of our fake relationship we have learned how to manage it. For example, we can be holding hands and giggling while in the public eye, but when we are backstage or stuff like that we go back to that friend's side. Or while we are on pap walks, if I squeeze her hand twice that means I’m uncomfortable with something that's happening and it needs to change. We want what's best for each other and if that means we have to stay in the closet to not harm each other's reputations then that's what we will do. Me and her have talked about coming out publicly, but with my contract I would violate it and never be allowed on stage again (Sam would make sure of it)As for Legacy, she has loopholes to her contract, but if she were to look into those or initiate something then it could cause me some deep harm when it comes to my career. Even though I know my fans would support me whether im gay, straight or even transgender, I don't want to take this risk when I’m already so close to finalizing my contract.Legacy walked through the door and gave me a hug, a friendly hug but definitely one I needed. It sucked having to be constantly up for anything especially on days when I just want to sit in my bed and cry. I love my career, but some days I need a break and those days are fewer and farther between the more Sam makes plans.I’m happy I get to see fans backstage, most of the time they really bring up my energy, but I still can't stop the constant anxiety rolling within me saying ‘what if they are my anti-supporting fans or want to talk about me and Legacy all night instead of just truly getting to spend time with me.’Fortunately Legacy knows when I am stressed and does a really good job of calming down. She tells me that worrying isn't going to help the situation and if the worst comes to worst, she can always make up an excuse to pull me away before the show starts. Yes, it would probably make Sam mad, but at this moment in time did I care? No… I mean… maybe? { 🏳️🌈 ~ Chapter Eight ~ 🎤}It was about Twelve o'clock when Lance finally calmed down. Zeke, Lance’s opening act for the show, was on stage doing sound check with Nate, Lance's childhood best friend and camera crew worker. They sounded really good and it started to settle everyone's mood. Lance really enjoys their crew and is happy to be able to have his opportunity. He knows not every artist can come to fame like he did and he's really grateful to have this opportunity despite all the complaining he does. The only true drawback he has is the fact he can't come out… His thoughts are interrupted by the sound of a message coming through, “Levi and Tristan have arrived, they are a little early, but that means more time you get to spend with your fans. I expect you to be in there by 1:30. I have a lot of paperwork to get done after I get them to their room, so I trust I can leave you guys by yourselves. There will be security outside your room if you have any trouble. Remember your contract and don't make me have to get you and Legacy another pap walk tomorrow. They will be signing NDAs before you get in there, but there is no telling what can happen. Behave. -Sam” Of course it was Sam. “don't do this” “don't do that” talk about a buzz kill and s**t manager much. * * * * * * * * * It was 12:50 Levi and Tristan arrived. Yes they are a little early, but the message said to be there no later than 1:30 pm and it’s better to be early rather than late. Levi calls Sam, as instructed, and within a few minutes, they are in a parking lot on the opposite side of where everyone else is queuing. They walk into the building and are immediately greeted by Sam and security. Levi can tell he looks Tristan up and down multiple times, but doesn’t mention anything. Luckily Tristan doesn’t realize. “Hello! I hope you had a safe trip and congratulations on the backstage passes.” Levi feels that every message and conversation he has had with Sam has been scripted. He even says the words with an artificial tone to his voice which gives him the creeps. “Hi” Levi and Tristan say at the same time. Levi is first to reach out a hand and greet Sam. Even though he gives off weird vibes, it’s always right to treat people with kindness. Tristan reaches out his hand and Simon looks him up and down again before saying, “You must be Tristan, Levi’s best friend if I’m still correct?” He ignores the hand and Tristan ends up putting it down awkwardly before replying “Um.. yes we have b..been best friends since college.” Tristan feels very awkward about the situation especially because he seemed fine with giving Levi a hand shake, but not him. Sam nods and then proceeds to say, “Nothing more than best friends I presume?” Levi can see the look on Tristan’s face. He is not just scared, but it’s also clear he doesn’t want to be here anymore. He can tell Sam is a homophobic piece of s**t and although Tristan hasn't came out to him, Levi has known for years that Tristan was gay and Sam was truly getting on his nerves. “Simon, me and Tristan are both just best friends. Nothing more, nothing less. If you can’t handle that fact then we can both leave right now.” Levi chimes in to help Tristan. He appreciated the help, but also isn’t going to back down without a little fight, “I agree completely with that statement. If you have a problem with me being here, which so far it seems pretty clear you do, then we can turn back around and act like this never happened. Please know I’m not trying to make a big deal out of this, but you eying me down and then refusing to shake my hand, I have a big issue with that. We can either act like this first interaction never happened or as I said before, just say the words and I’ll be gone in an instant.” Sam has a slight look of disbelief visible for about half a second before reaching out his hand. They exchange handshakes and names before Sam leads them to a room. It seems he went with the former option. Tristan might be able to say and act like they started over, but he will never fully like Sam after that first interaction. It’s clear he’s a homophobic piece of s**t and he feels bad Lance has to deal with him on a regular basis. Then he starts to think…‘What if Lance is just like Simon and his public persona is just to get views. What if Lance makes fun of me just like Sam. What if his relationship with Legacy is real love. What if I have a major crush on a straight, homophobic, music artist.’ Tristan’s mind starts to ramble before he realizes they have stopped at a door. The walk to the room was very short and they didn't get to see much before entering, not that Tristan was even very focused on his surroundings. Sam hands them each a clipboard with a pen attached at the top. “This is the NDA you will both have to sign, I assume Levi told you about it Tristan?” “Yes Levi did.” “Great. An NDA, also known as a non-disclosure agreement, is a legal contract that restricts the sharing of confidential information between two or more parties. They can cover many types of information and can also be used by individuals to protect their personal lives. For example, independent contractors may have access to information that they don't want to be made public, and an NDA can help keep that information private. I have decided, as Lance’ manager, to keep all inside information confidential so this document will guarantee just that. Breaking an NDA is usually a civil breach of contract, and the harmed party can sued for financial compensation if the court rules in their favor, which I promise in this situation they will. The violator could also face fines, jail time, or other penalties. So, long story short, feel free to go over the contract, but this meet and greet will not continue without both signatures. And don’t worry, our photographer will be there to take photos so you can make memories and all will be sent to you. Just know personal photos and videos are prohibited.” Sam finishes his whole spiel in about 30 seconds talking at rapid speed and both Tristan and Levi look at each other trying to hold in a laugh. “Thank you for all that information, we will look it over and sign if we agree with the terms.” Levi manages to say without breaking character more than he already is. It’s incredibly hilarious to him that Sam, not only has all that memorized, but is also able to say it as fast and he did without stuttering. What information is so important to him that he needs it kept so secret…? After about 15 minutes they both read through the whole document, making sure there is no fine print, and sign. There was nothing in either document that was sketchy of any sort!! Just plain out: You are not allowed to share information about this experience. From photos, videos, or conversations of any kind unless told otherwise by an appropriate staff member. “Perfect. Thank you guys very much. Feel free to eat and use anything provided. At 1:30 pm Lance will come down here and stay till 5 pm. He has some fun activities planned that I think you will both enjoy!” Simon says before walking out of the room. It was weird not to get even a ‘goodbye’ or ‘see you later.’ He just left. But Tristan and Levi can feel the atmosphere become immediately less tense the second the door shuts. Once Simon leaves, Tristan and Levi explore the room. It’s pretty decently sized and extremely well decorated. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the table to the left with food. On the right, there is a green couch, above it hanging many pictures of famous music artists and a handful of significant quotes. At the back of the room, there are many mirrors with large bright lights surrounding it as a border. By one of the mirrors there are all sorts of beverages from coffee to wine. The mirrors' intended purpose is to be used by makeup artists before shows, but this room was obviously changed to meet the needs of the backstage guests. But Tristan doesn’t miss the chance to fix a few strands of his hair before continuing to take in his surroundings again! As they continue to observe the room, they spot some games placed on a shelf right of the couch and another door that leads to a bathroom. At this rate, what does the room not have?! The atmosphere of the room brings a sense of comfort (now that Sam is gone that is) and they are extremely grateful to be here and get this once in a lifetime experience. It all seems so real now..they are living the dream of millions of fans. Since they have already eaten and have about 25 minutes till Lance should be there, they decide to play some Connect Four. You know, the game from your childhood where you have to make four of your chips line up before your opponent does? They might as well pass the time by entertaining themselves rather than sitting in silence or on their phones, after all, it was provided for them to use. Tristan wins the first round and Levi wins the second. It’s sudden death, who will be the Connect Four champion? The odds are looking in Tristan’s favor, but before he can secure the win they hear a small knock on the door. “Knock knock” a shy voice sounds before a small 5 foot 7 inch figure walks into the room. Lance Tomlinson. Before Tristan or Levi are able to get up and greet him, he disappears just as fast as he entered…Did they do something wrong? Yes. No. Maybe? { 🏳️🌈 ~ Chapter Nine ~ 🎤}Lance is pacing outside the door waiting for Nate and Zeke to respond to his many messages. Lance: CODE RED Lance: EMERGENCY Lance: HElP Lance: NIALL Lance: I HAVE FUCKED UP SO BAD After a few minutes or many text messages and Lance freaking out Zeke finally responds Zeke: Lance calm down, it's been 6 minutes since you left. Why are you texting me and not spending time with Levi and Tristan? Lance: ZEKE. I'M SO EMBARRASSED Nate: What's wrong Lance? Lance: Well, I walked into the room and saw them sitting on the couch playing a game and well…one of them was really hot and so I basically rushed out of the room and slammed the door in their face… Lance: I couldn't even see him all the way because his back was facing me but he was wearing a blue sheer shirt and…yeah Nate: Wait, let me get this straight. You are currently standing in the hallway contemplating your thoughts because you got butterflies over someone you haven't even met. 🤣 Lance: NATE I need help and you are not helping! And quickly. They are in there by themselves wondering what is wrong with meeee Zeke: NO WAY. This is the funniest thing ever. Never going to let you live this down. Lance: PLEASE HELP ME OUT FOR ONCE Nate: Okay okay sorry, first off you go back there and apologize but idk how you are going to cover up why you left without telling the truth. Any ideas Zeke? Lance: No Zeke is not going to help me right now. I need the brain…NATE HELP PLEASE Zeke: wow. i had a good idea. but nvm now. figure it out yourself. Lance: Fine Zeke. What your “good idea” Zeke: You walk in and while you are shaking his hand you can pull him in for a hug and whisper “Sorry I had to walk out. I couldn't gain control of myself because of how pretty you look” Lance: You are both useless. I will figure it out myself. UGHHH. He really fucked up. Why did he just leave?! Why does his body process things before he can think of the pros and cons?! Luckily, he is able to calm down within a timely manner, both mentally and physically, and walks in again. Knocking on the door just like last time. *knock knock* To Levi and Tristan’s surprise, Lance is (actually) standing in front of them. No words are exchanged as they all look at each other confused. The room is tense with no one knowing what to do or how to start the conversation. Lance breaks the silence, “I..um. Y-your. Hi.” Clean Lance, real clean. Not only has he made a fool of himself once, but now he’s done it twice. Add this to the list of times he wants to restart his day and give himself another shot. Before anyone can register it, Levi is tightly embracing Lance. At first Lance is absolutely terrified and has the instinct to push him away, but he relaxes into the hug knowing this is one of his true fans. They stay like that for about a minute till Levi starts to back away. Tristan is staring shyly not knowing how to further the interaction. He is extremely self conscious of himself and wants to go back home. He also wants a restart to his day. Lance steps forward to Tristan and goes in for a hug. He felt like it’s what he should have done at that moment. As they have their first embrace, a warm rush of butterflies flow through each of their stomachs. It feels right. More than right. Before either of them let go, Lance whispers something so only Tristan can hear, “You look really pretty.” He had an instinct to say ‘love’ at the end but didn’t want to take things too far. He has already messed up twice, imagine the guilt he would feel if Tristan passed out because of one simple word. Tristan is processing his whole life right now. THE Lance Forest thinks he’s pretty. His secret celebrity crush for years, said the words: “You look really pretty” to his face and acted like it was a common line to say. Plus not even a hint of blush crept up on Lance' face; Tristan on the other hand is as red as a tomato. But little did he know, Lance was secretly falling for Tristan. Fast and hard, but he is just much better at hiding it due to his many years in the industry, especially with all the closeting he faces. Guess you can thank Sam for that. Tristan on the other hand has been falling for Lance for years and this was an experience he will for sure never forget. As for Levi, he sees the chemistry right off the back and although Tristan may not be officially out to him and hates Lance, but can see his change in emotions when he's with a cute guy. “Oh..wow I-I, thank you. I love you as well. I..s**t. I love your OUTFIT as well.” Tristan says, ending his sentence with hands over his face in embarrassment. Levi is so confused, first, why is he complimenting Lance's outfit “as well” and second, why is Tristan acting all blushy around a person he claims to hate..? Seeing Tristan this way brings a smile to Lance’ face. “Hahaha” There is a small pause before he continues, “I just wanted to say, I’m so sorry about earlier. I’m extremely glad we got to redo that interaction! Oh and also, congrats on the backstage passes, I should have led with that obviously. It was a spontaneous idea my manager had and I’m glad we went along with it. I’m glad you guys won..” “I really can’t believe we won. I haven’t ever won anything from a giveaway. I guess the gods above were saving this special opportunity for a special artist.” Levi responds. Believe it or not he’s very shy and scared for what will happen next. Sam said he had plans, but what all does that intel? Maybe they can have a Connect Four Championship against the three of them!! “I have some plans for later but if you want to hang out and talk or eat some food we can always do that first. This is your time so use it how you want. I would hate for my dumb activities to ruin your experience.” Lance mentions. Even though he would love to play the games, he doesn’t want them to feel forced! Tristan responds incredibly fast, “I would love to do those activities with you and they are absolutely NOT stupid!!!” Levi and Lance both chuckle at his words. “Okay, okay, Tristan, I’m glad you want to participate in the activities I do as well. That sounds like a lot of fun Lance.” Lance notes that the one talking is Levi and the one in the blue has to be Tristan. He looks like a Tristan. A beautiful Tristan. He wonders how the name would feel rolling off his tongue. TR-IS-TAN. Plus, It makes his heart grow to know they are so sweet. Even though it has only been 3 minutes he feels this insane connection and can’t wait to get to know them better over the next few hours. Why did he worry himself so much earlier? They are amazing, kindhearted fans who fit in perfectly with his sense of humor!! At least it seems like that so far. Tonights going to be a great night?! Yes. No. Maybe? { 🏳️🌈 ~ Chapter Ten ~ 🎤}Lance had a list of activities planned that they could do. He thought it was best to get to know them first, so what if they play two truths and a lie? “Are you guys up for a few rounds of two truths and a lie? I can go first, test those superfan skills” Lance says with a chuckle . Levi chimes in, “Oh I love this game!!” And Tristan nods his head before saying “Sounds like fun, I call next though!” “Alright, let’s see…I have one dog, my favorite song on the album is All Along, and my least favorite sport is basketball.” Levi responds first, “ I think the lie is the basketball one. I mean it’s not the best sport, but definitely not the worst!” Tristan considers his options and goes with his gut, “I feel like your favorite song would be Saturdays or Silver Tongues. You always seem happy singing those ones. So as much as I like Bigger Than Me I’m going to have to say that it's the lie.” “Tristan’s right! I love singing Saturdays because I feel the crowd radiating happiness and there’s just something about it..and Silver Tongues, I love being able to feel my fans' excitement up close, so going down to the barricade is probably one of my favorite things to do. I love All Along, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just not my FAVORITE.” Lance starts to think to himself, first, he loves the way Tristan’s name rolls off his tongue. It feels so so so right. Second, it’s clear Tristan has watched many live shows or gone to concerts before if he is able to tell what his favorite song is and something about that brings butterflies back to his stomach. Before he can think more on this he remembers the new task at hand, focus, try and guess Tristan’s lie now. “Yay!! I got it right! Now onto mine…I have never tried raw sushi before, my favorite number is 4, and I want to get a pet goldfish so I can name it Buddy.” Lance knows the answer easily “That's so easy! Who hasn’t tried raw sushi before. That has to be your lie.” Levi on the other hand knows Tristan has always been afraid of trying raw fish and his favorite number is definitely not 4. “It’s the second one because your favorite number is 3. Why? I don’t know, but I remember you saying that before.” “I guess this isn’t fair considering Levi has known me for so long, but he is right. My favorite number is 3. I haven’t ever tried raw fish because I’m scared it will ruin my love for sushi.” Lance responds, “Wow, I really thought I knew the answer to that one. I’m usually great at this game! Also, someone needs to get you to try raw sushi, you haven’t lived till you give it a shot!” Tristan starts to laugh. For some reason he finds Lance' comment extremely funny. Maybe it’s just the fact he has a major crush on him, but at this rate anything he says would be found funny by Tristan. Levi feels a vibe of energy between Tristan and Lance and it makes him think maybe Tristan likes Lance: The way the backstage passes became so important to Tristan, the constant stuttering, the blush on his cheeks, over excitement and all the way to the weird “I love you as well. I..s**t. I love your OUTFIT as well” only proves that Tristan might have a crush on Lance, and Levi can see how the feeling might be mutual, after all who wouldn’t fall for Tristan in that outfit. Plus, Tristan mentioned Lance going to barricade at his concerts and 3 of the songs he sings so either has been keeping secrets from him about his love for Lance as an artist or he has some explaining to do. They will definitely be talking about this after the meet and greet. He sees the sparks flying between Lance and Tristan. Yes Lance has a ‘girlfriend’ but he also acts so differently when he’s in those pap photos or with her. It’s as if the happiness of a relationship isn’t there and he’s forced to hold her hand and give her kisses. Because of this, many of his fans believe it's a publicity stunt and they are just friends forced to be together to save their public image, including Levi. A light bulb goes off in Levi’s head, he has a plan… * * * * * * * * * After Levi goes through his two truths and a lie and they learn his biggest fear is spoon, Levi brings up the proposal to play a different game. “I got an idea, what if we play truth or dare? It’s an original and we can definitely have some fun with it! Tristan, truth or dare?” Tristan considers his options before saying, “Let’s go dare!” He continues, “Give me the hardest thing you got, I’m up for anything!” Levi’s plan is going perfectly! But how will he word it so nothing sounds suspicious.. “Let me think…you said ANYTHING, so I have to make this a good one.” A few seconds pass by before Levi knows exactly how to execute his plan without being suspicious, “I dare you, but only if Lance is okay with it, to kiss him. You wanted a hard dare there you go. Kiss Lance.” It’s silent. Maybe Levi misread the signs. What if Tristan really does hate his music and thinks his personality sucks. What if Tristan truly isn't gay. What if Lance is happily in a relationship with Legacy. What if Lance hates him now because of his bold dare. What if Tristan stops being friends with him. What if Lance gets in trouble for this. What if.. Tristan is shocked by the dare, “Levi. You can’t just expect me to-“ Lance cuts him off, “Tristan it’s fine, a dare is a dare. I give you permission.” Tristan’s cheeks redden as he averts his gaze downward. Never in a million years did he expect Lance to agree to kissing him. It almost feels wrong. Scratch that, it feels very wrong. Tristan looked up from the ground to see Lance staring back at him. They both moved a few steps closer to each other and anyone that walked in could easily feel the awkward tension radiating from them. Tristan was almost to the point of shaking and Lance was nervous because he had the decision on whether or not to let this dare continue and he did without even a second thought. He had every chance to say, ‘Levi come up with another dare, please’ but there was a voice in his head telling him to trust what’s going to happen. Even though he only met this man minutes ago, his instincts told him to have full trust in him. That was the only thing that felt right. Not the fact he was going to kiss Tristan knowing the public, and possibly even Levi and Tristan, think he is in a real relationship with his friend, only the new found trust for Tristan..what’s his last name? Lance adds that to his mental notes on questions to ask for later. Lance' jumbled thinking gets put on pause when he sees Tristan. Luckily, Tristan knew exactly what to do. He slowly reached out to gently brush a stray hair away from Lance's face, leaving his hand there in the process. They both leaned in closer and without hesitation Tristan leaned forward to plant a gentle, soft kiss on his cheek. Levi never specified the location of the kiss and it was obvious the time was not right. No matter what dare he got or how badly he wanted to complete it, there was no way he could carry it out when they both more than likely looked like they were seconds away from fainting. The kiss was short and sweet and enough to not only complete the dare, but also leave both smiling at each other happy and extremely content.
