![]() Chapter 3: Grave Robbers Appear! Attack of the Creatures of White.A Chapter by Kane Raiden![]() Powerful grave robbers stand before our heroes and they are accompanied by mysterious white creatures.![]() Chapter 3: Grave Robbers Appear! It has been 3 months since Master Cid died. Today we are going to his funeral. It was a dark and rainy day. All the Spirit Hunters from the Branch were there...except 1. I didn't mind it though I was too focusing on what was in front of me. This for me was a body of my dead master. Many cried their eyes out and cursing the world. As for me; I was done. I was done crying, I was done cursing the world, and I was done with the guilt that filled my heart. All I could think of as the sky itself cried for the bodies being returned to the earth; the only thing I thought of was revenge. Someone murdered Master Cid and I will find out who and take them out. Two weeks later, I was out and about on missions. I had become a Level 7 Bronze Hunter and was taking on solo missions almost every day. I knew that in order to find and beat Master Cid's killer I would need to be strong so I was on full on work mode ever since Master Cid died. I took on challenges and challenged other Hunters in order to become more natural at fighting. Matt and the others were just as committed. They were all going on mission and fighting battles just as much as me. Today was a break day for me though. I was going to visit Cid's grave with Patience; which by the way counts as a date. "It's so not a date." Varnit said dryly. Varnit was walking with me as she headed to the cafe. "Yes it is." I countered. "No it really isn't." Varnit repeated. "Last time I checked, two people going alone somewhere is called a date." I stated. "No. Two people going to a nice entertainment establishment, to share conversation and try to get to know each other more is a date." Varn explained harshly. "Two friends going to visit their Master's grave in a creepy cemetery is just a weird hangout." "...Shut up. For me it's a date, okay. End of discussion." I said dramatically. "Fine whatever; just don't get your hopes up." Varn warned. I didn't mind's Varn's warning, for me this was a great opportunity to tell Patience how I felt. So I was going with high hopes anyway. About 10 minutes later I met Patience in front of the Hero's Passing Cemetery. It is a grave for the Spirit Hunters who died in battle. We quietly walked over to Master Cid's grave. As we walked I could only stare at Patience, even in the creepiest place ever I was still captivated by her beauty. I kept running it over in my head, how to tell her how I felt. But no matter what came it all sounded stupid. "Hey, Kwasi," Patience spoke suddenly. Her sudden voice made me jump. I looked her with a dorky smile "Y-yeah?" "I'm glad you came here with me." She smiled. "Huh? What this all of a sudden?" I asked. "Well...it's just that I know you've been busy with your intense training lately and well, it felt like we don't talk as much anymore. So, yeah...I'm glad you came." She said quietly. Without thinking I responded. "Well, I'm glad to go anywhere as long as it's with you," As soon as I said that I immediately face palmed. We stood there for a couple of seconds; swimming in the awkwardness. She then smile and said "Thanks,” she then continued walking. I sighed in relief and followed after her. We walked all the way the far end of the cemetery. "Here it is..." I muttered. "Hello Master. We brought you some flowers." Patience knelt down and placed the flowers in front of the tombstone. "You should talk to him too." I looked at her for a couple of seconds before I knelt down and spoke. "Hey Master...what's up? I hope you've been doing good... Me? I'm fine. I have been in some serious training recently. I'm a Level VII now...I'm still going to grow stronger, for you. BTW can you tell my -" KABOOM!!!! A sudden explosion appeared in front of me. Patience and I were hurtled backwards. We landed on our feet as we slide across the grass. "What the HELL!" Patience exclaimed. "What was that?" I asked. But my question was soon dissolved as the smoke cleared. "Who are you?" A figure with a black cloak floated above the tombstone. The figure was silent. "I said: WHO ARE YOU!?" "...None of your concern." The figure snaps its figures and the air around her started to become distorted. Patience and I looked in astonishment as the air split open. And out of the white hole were short, white, human-like creatures jumped out. "Keep them busy as I leave with the Milady’s possession." The ground rumbled as the Master Cid's coffin rose from the ground. "Oh HELL NO" I yelled! I charged at the figure with super speed ready to kick it. But the white creature tackled me. "Get out of my way!" I fired blots of electricity at it, blasting it away. I got up and saw the figure floating the air with the coffin and flying away. "No!" Out of nowhere Patience dashed passed me, running towards the grave robber. As she ran her back started to grow a bulge. The bulge continues to grow as she ran faster. The bulge ripped open the back of Patience's shirt; sprouting her beautiful, radiant wings. With those wings she took off soaring through the air at incredible speed. She came closer and closer to the robber. With each second she was that much closer the coffin. But just as she got close the figure sighed and mumbled "How annoying." The figure aimed her arm and launched a jet of fire at Patience. Patience blocked her face as the fire struck her down from the air. I ran as fast as I could and caught Patience before she crashed. Put her down gently on the floor and pulled out a small bottle from my pocket. I opened the bottle and slowly poured the elixir down her mouth. In a few seconds the burns on her skin disappeared and she slowly opened her eyes. “You okay?” I asked as I slowly lifted her. “Yeah...,” She muttered. “Good. Luck I had a potion still left,” I put the empty bottle back into my packet and help Patience to her feet. Inside the bottle was a special potion that heals a person’s injuries for a period of time. It is an essential tool for all Spirit Hunters. We’ll never leave home without at least 20 of them. “There is no time to waste we gotta go after that thing,” Patience said. “Right,” Just as we were about to go several rips in the air opened and more of the human-like creatures emerged but this time they had sharp blades and guns attached to their arms, and they were slightly bigger than the last. They surround us and aimed their guns at us. “Not good,” I said. “So not good,” Patience repeated. I electrified my arms and slammed them on the ground. “Blot Stream.” Lightning burst from the ground and shocked all of the creatures. “Neon Light!” A beam of bright light was fired from Patience’s hand and made a whole right through the creature. The creature cried in pain and its body disintegrated. We took advantage of the opening and ran. Patience took flight as I used my Super Speed. We ran right past the creature at great speeds. But the creatures didn’t give up so easily. They ran after us without hesitation. I used my Thunder but it only managed to strike down two of them. Patience used her Shining Mirror to summon a wall of light. One of the creatures got captured by the wall and then exploded. But the 3 remaining creatures avoided the attack. “I’ve have had just about enough of this crap,” Patience exclaimed. “Angel Wings: Gravira” Patience’s wings began to glow brightly but the yellow glow changed in into a dark black-purple glow. She turned around and held out her hand. Her hand glowed the same colour as her wings. Suddenly everything began to shake and I just watched as all the creatures suddenly where pressed, distorted, and finally crushed. “Whoa...that was amazing,” I said. “Heh, you think?” Patience said shyly. “Well, whatever. We better get moving.” “Right,” I agreed. I turned around and saw the two creatures we saw before pouncing at me. They were too close so there wasn’t enough time to dodge. I stood there in shock as the creature was inches away from my face. Suddenly I hear gunfire and then the creature’s face had a whole it. It exploded and faded away. “First and last time I’m goanna save you, got it?” Said a deeply, shrivel voice behind me. “M-Master Rego!” I exclaimed. “Yo.” That is Master Edward Rego, Codename: Man of Gaiden. Master Rego is probably one of the coolest, toughest Masters in the world. He is always calm; he’s sarcastic, kind, brutal, and funny. He is an expert at mixed martial arts, he teaches fighting styles. I’ve only seen him in one time in a real fight. He wields 6 different weapons: Katana, Twin Handguns, Spear, Staff, Knuckles, and a rifle. And from what I hear he actually has more, but I’ve never seen it for myself. He is completely human and doesn’t use any material whatsoever, he relays only on his skills. “I heard that you guys were here,” Master Rego said he started to walk back. “Come on let’s go.” “Go? Go where?” Patience asked. “Where else,” Master said cynically. We walked with Master Rego back to the Academy. We went all the way up to the mission hall. There we meet the others. “Why are you guys here?” Patience asked. “There was a break in the weapon containment center. We went there to investigate and we saw a hooded figure taking Master Cid’s weapon,” Varnit explained. “The figure said that it wanted to claim its prize for winning,” Eric said. “Which means that figure most likely killed Master Cid,” Matt said. “What!? Did you guys stop that thing?” I asked. “We tried. But it sent some weird human-like white creatures,” Jade explained. “Damn. Well at least you guys tried. We ran into a similar figure but this one took Cid’s coffin.” I said. “A grave robber?” Jade asked. “That’s…different…” “And that’s why we want you guys to handle this situation,” Master Rego stood in front of the room. “Lights!” The lights darken and the projector went on. “Since you guys already know what has been going on I’ll cut to the chase. The two figures retreated to Mt. Alph at Goron City.” “Wait. How do we know they went to Goron City if they just broke in less than an hour ago?” Eric asked. We all knew that Eric was trying to squirm his way out of a hard mission by asking stupid questions. “We know because there have been a recent spike in Spiritual Disturbance in the area. And because of your guys skills in teamwork I’m assigning you 6 for this mission. Varnit will lead. Find the intruders and bring them and the stole items back here. You leave for Goron City tomorrow at 08 hundred hours.” “Yes sir!” We all responded simultaneously. We left the room and went to the center hall. “Okay guys first things first, what do you have in your inventory?” Varnit immediately took charge. You would think that Jade and I would be complaining about Master Rego’s choice to lead but we really respect Varn as a leader. She is very dependable and trustworthy, because of her leadership skills we have been save more times than the days of the year. Plus, we’re too scared to argue with her. “I got 6 spirit ethers, 3 potions, and 2 escape capsules,” Matt responded. “7 spirit ethers, 4 explode tags, 2 poison smoke balls and a potion,” Eric said. “I have a potion too, 3 kunai, 8 shuriken, 9 set traps and I think I have 3 flash bombs back in our room,” Jade said. “I have a capsule barrier, and 28 potions. Sorry,” Patience said. “I should be saying sorry, I got nothing. I used my last potion earlier today on Patience.” I said. “Humph. Useless,” Varnit muttered. “Hey!” I exclaimed. Varn ignored me and continued. “Alright here’s what we do. All of you get at least 15 potions each. Jade and I will get some spirit ethers, kunai and shuriken. Kwasi and Matt you guys get us some flash bombs and capsules. Eric and Patience explosives, traps and smoke bombs. We’ll gather tomorrow at 7 so sleep early got it?” “Got it,” We agreed. We all left in our selected teams and looked for the items. We went to spirit hunter stores around the city. Most of these stores are owned by the Hunter Organization but there are some that are freelance salesmen that sell more or less the same item for cheaper. We usually hit there. But even though it’s cheaper it wasn’t cheap. Together Matthew and I had a combine total of $2,800 but after shopping we were done to $20. This is one of the reason spirit hunters get stronger so there is no need to buy items. After a couple of hours of shopping we went home. Matt, Eric and I live in the same room in the boy’s dorm on campus. And Jade, Varnit and Patience live the same room in the girl’s dorm. When we got home Matt crashed on his bed and I decided to lay out my stuff before I decided to sleep. I remembered that I left my cell phone in the living room on the 10th floor. I left to get it but as soon as I left I felt a dark presence around me. “Hello Mr. Asante,” Out from the shadows came Master Raven. Master Raven is a dark, mysterious person. He is honestly scary as heck. He always gives off this dark aura. His Codename is Dark Elf. Fitting since he is kind of short. He teaches spirit history. I haven’t seen him in battle yet but I wouldn’t count on him going into battle, I mean he like old and stuff. Like pretty old like late 50s and early 60s. But from what heard from Master Cid he is stronger than Master Rego and Master Cid put together. “H-hello Master Raven,” I greeted him awkwardly. “Nice night huh?” “Yes...it is a very nice night. It’s like the calm before the storm,” Master Raven said creepily. “Tell me, you are getting ready for your mission correct? You are good to Goron City to confront Cid’s supposed killer.” “Yeah, and we’ll find that thing and drag back here with its limbs cut off!” I boasted. “Wishful thinking is foolish thinking,” Master Raven coldly insulted. “What was that!” I roared aggressively. “Tell me...Lightning Emperor...are psychically, mentally, and spiritually prepared for the great battle ahead?” He asked. “Yes, I have trained my mind and body for this day. I will not lose and that is a promise.” I said courageously. The master then stood there glaring at me or staring, I don’t know they both look the same. He sighed and yelled, “Fool! You told me that you just trained your mind and body but what of the spirit. The spirit is fragile; very fragile the smallest event can affect the spirit in a big way. Unless your spirit is trained harder than the body and mind you can easily be swallowed by the darkness. You don’t not know what will happen, life is filled with unexpected events, and if you do not prepare for them you can lose everything you hold dear...” Master Raven fell silent. He stared at his hand and scowled. “If you want to protect the people most important to you; then you must be ready to face any darkness in your path. When your enemy stands before you do not hesitate to cut the down! For if you don’t...you’ll lose everything you hold dear.” I stood there in shock as he turned around and started to walk away. I was about to say something but he then stopped and said. “Oh yes, remember this warning as well: no matter what happens never fuel the darkness within. You must be fully aware of all the darkness around you and within you for if you don’t...the consequences will be grave.” And gone. Disappeared into the shadows like a ninja. Something that wasn’t really new but still really creepy. “I really gotta ask Eric to follow him on day.” I muttered to myself. I grabbed my cell phone and went back to bed, completely ignoring Master Raven’s warning. A warning I should have listen too. Maybe if I did listen to his warning...things...things might have gone differently... * The dawn of a new day shined bright in my eyes as I got up from bed. I went into the washroom, brushed my teeth, empty my water bucket (if you know what I mean) and cleaned my glasses. I came out of the washroom and saw Eric about to go in, I moved aside and let the tired Hunter in. Out of the washroom into the wardrobe. I grabbed my red shirt and my blue jeans. I went into the closet and grabbed my uniform. I put on my jacket, my gloves and sneakers. And with my family necklace I was set. Matt was already out and about with all the stuff we bought so I was second to leave. Of course Eric is last so there was no point waiting for him. I left the room and went to the main tower foyer. There Varnit, Matt, and Patience were waiting. “Morn’” I greeted. “Yo.” Matt greeted back. “Sup.” Varnit greeted. “Good morning. How was your sleep?” Patience asked. “Good, yours?” I asked back. “Pretty good.” She answered. “You ready?” Varn asked. “Ready, chief.” I said confidently. Varn sigh and looked at her watch. It was 7:10. With me here we were just waiting on Jade and Eric. 10 minutes later Jade came rushing in. “You said that you were just going to get some coffee.” Varn said. “So…what the hell happened?” “Well…you see this challenged me to a battle and I couldn’t pass up a challenge so…yeah…I beat him.” We just sighed and ignored Jade for a while. Finally from the shadows of the curtains Eric rose 10 minutes later. “Hey guys.” Eric tiredly greeted. “Don’t “Hey guys” me!” Patience exclaimed. “Why are you so slow!? Its 7:30 and you’re the last to arrive!” “Hey, if I’m not fully rested I can’t do a mission properly.” Eric’s same excuse every time. And every time we say the same thing. “Whatever.” We took about 20 minutes organizing and distributing the stuff. At 7:55 we headed out into the court yard where we had some gifts waiting for us. “No WAY!” Jade and I exclaimed for there were 6 colourful sports motorcycles lined up for us. “I take it you like them.” Said a voice from the bikes. “They are really awesome Master Jim.” Patience complimented. Master Jim stood and just smiled at us. “Why thank you it’s always nice be complimented by a pretty girl.” Master Jim is the lead scientist and mechanic in the branch. He is Noid with the ability to talk to machines and control them. He isn’t in the front lines battling much anymore. He retired from fighting after he became a scientist. He teaches most of the sciences. Oh yeah he is always a total prev. He hits on every girl in the school student or teacher, doesn’t matter no one ever takes him seriously anymore. Tragic yet funny when gets punched in the crouch. “Ha, ha, ha?” Patience laughed awkwardly. “So are these bikes ours or what?” Matt asked. “Yep. These are the latest model they should get you to Goron City in 13 hours.” “13 hours! But Goron City is in Mexico and last I check it is more than 13 hours away.” Varn said. “Well not with the Dimension Ripper Mark2 or DR Mk.II. It is installed into the bikes, once you hit a certain speed you can open a rip in space and travel to a different location 3,000 km away.” Master Jim explained. “Way cool.” Eric stated. We all hoped on our bikes and ripped up our engines. “Alright guys next stop Goron City!” Varn exclaimed. We blasted out of the court yard and drove right into the city. Passing building after building into the outskirts of the city. As our bikes hit 250 miles per hour a blue hole opened in front of us. We entered through the hole and in seconds we came out to the outskirt deserts of Goron Canyon. As we rode our bikes in the open desert we heard the howls of beast. “Fiends.” © 2012 Kane RaidenAuthor's Note
