Chant du cygne

Chant du cygne

A Poem by Kat Collins
"

"Mors ultima linea rerum est - Death is the last boundary-string of things" - Horace

"

I am not afraid of death.

I am afraid of not living.

Not being.

Not existing.

Nothing.

The dissolution of my soul,

Into the inky abyss.

Forevermore,

I long to wander.

Planted on terra firma.

Relishing delights,

Of a life well lived.

And living.

Still living.

Breathing.

The blessing of perpetual life,

Hope springs eternal.

I am not afraid of death.

I am afraid of not living.

Not continuing.

Not respiring.

Ceasing.

Shuffling off this mortal coil,

Into the gentle night.

My final exit.

Chant du cygne.

well... it's good not to ask for too much... after all, one never chose to live in the first place

Beautiful and introspective. The questioning within us and the need to have lived a life that was useful, needed and deliberate. Loved it!

an interesting rhythm seeping through this poem. What rings most true for me are the lines I'm not afraid of death I am afraid of not living. Nice job fellow Virgo. Nice.

When we live our lives to the fullest then passing on to the other side should not scare us, for the afterlife is not the end but a new beginning.

Wonderful. Simply wonderful. Deep, refreshing and thought provoking. Though I've always believed Life is the main course and Death the desert

I guess this is how many of us feel as i often wonder am I truely living or merely existing, the time runs away so quickly and I feel I have only wasted another day. The depth of your poem is breath taking, I loved it. keep em' coming
