Deaf

Deaf

A Poem by Kate Henderson

Dancing to a parade
An ongoing musical charade
I'm lost in the scene
Lights, Camera, Action
My nightly exhibition

My blank face turns somber
Lost in routine
Monotonous cliche

Deja Vu I've been here before
Deaf on a dancefloor
Detached from the world
In this absence of sound

Hanging on a gibbet
Beautiful distortion
Lights, Camera, Action
Paralysed and slipped
Beyond life

Stop before the world breaks me
Covers up the lie
Taste the sweet bitterness
Leaving me to die

I'm lost in this pretense
My nightly charade
Dancing to pretend
Who am I now?
Deaf, dumb and blind
