Lost Thoughts

Lost Thoughts

A Poem by Katelyn Barker

In the underground,
feeling starship bound.
Crazy feelings,
the world might end.
Dive head first,
Dying of thirst,
Freedom is stolen
Tough ones are broken
Crying starts,
and hope is gone.
Soft lights,
tearful nights.
Thoughts snap,
one silent tap,
on the glass,
of the cage she is in.
She knew it was over,
pages crumpled in the corner.
Sobbing sounds,
isolated memories.
Emotions held within,
Tears drip,
down her chin.
She is alone,
love is gone,
family no more,
she is alone,
no one there,
space around her,
and no miracles will happen.
She is too far gone now.
To her memory,
people bow.
Planets away,
her thoughts will stay.
Regrets disappear
and the young girl is forgotten.
