How we can change the world

A Story by Katelyn Barker

In order to change the world, we must change ourselves. We must better ourselves, so that we can better others. It is a Universal experience. We all contribute to the world being the way it is. If we want others to respect us, or love us; Understand who we are and what we need; Be with us every step of the journey to find ourselves, we have to do the same for them. I have done so much research, thinking, feeling, and creating to find the information that I have as of now. And I am going to try to be as unbiased as possible. This is for everyone. If you share this with a friend, an enemy, a brother, mother, friend, you might have saved them time, or maybe money, or even their lives. All it takes is a little initiative to start a form of “World Hunger”. A hunger where everyone strives to be the best that they can be. Where everyone is equal. There doesn’t have to be anarchy, a government, or a monarchy. There has to be trust, respect, love, and kindness.

It doesn’t matter how you think of someone else now, it won’t matter anyway. We will live our lives and we will all die in the end. But not everyone sees it in the grand scheme of things, as well as in the smaller scale. Some of us believe that there are many lives filled with duty and honor, or there are other religions that believe that there is a superior being, or maybe you worship someone that others find absolutely repulsive. It doesn’t matter what race you are, ethnicity, belief, place of birth, none of it matters. We are all as smart as George Washington, Van Gogh, or even Albert Einstein, the only difference between you and the rest of them, is that you didn’t have the privileges, experiences, or motives that they did. We were all created equal. Everyone on this Earth, and no matter what you believe in, it always comes down to this;

We were created. We are all here. And no matter what, we all have to be stuck with each other.

Through thick and thin, we should be there for eachother. Encourage each other, trust each other, and never lie to each other. I know that life is complicated, and that there are other things that you may need to think about, for instance, if you have to pay a bill, or teach someone something very important at the moment, or even just to think about sleep. You may feel like no one understands  you or your struggles. They don’t know your life story, they don’t know who you are and why you are that way. But think about this; Every person that you see during the day or night, has a different story. You don’t know them, and they don’t know you. But maybe they want to. Maybe they want to hear about what you’ve been through, good or bad. Maybe they want to be with you through future struggles and good times, or even just be there when you need a helping hand. They will never get the chance, because you decided not to talk to them. You decided to leave them alone, not to trust them to be a person with feelings. If you treat someone else with respect and love, they should want to treat you the same. So, next time you want to cut, curse, or maybe even worse. Or you just feel like everyone around you doesn’t care, Think Again. Maybe they do care.

And even if I am wrong on most of the points I made in this paper, I know that I would want others to respect, love, and cherish my company, and if they didn’t, they just wouldn’t have anything to do with me. You can contradict my paper, and say that I’m stupid, but I know what it is like to want to end my life, what it’s like to want to want to run away from all the problems, have my faith shaken, lose hope, be homeless, and even what it’s like to be at the top of the world. I know how most of you feel. And if, by chance you agree, then share it, pass it around. Show it to those in need of a little help, or even an encouraging word.
