How Long?

How Long?

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

....

"

How long will this keep running and burning?
Why are we hostage in a land of freedom?
Chaos like bonfire wrecking harmonies,
With mizzle of confusion flooding our world.

In dread we wander in these roads of deception.
Hoping for the best, while expecting the worst.
Safety seems dead, Calmness seems lost,
Where we should be safe is now full of terror.

The city cries aloud, the nation is at war.
The saints compromise, the trusted are corrupt.
The ups are down, and justice now disgusts.
Who dare raise a hand in the den of Lions?

Phobia in our hearts, living life with caution,
Behind the door we hide, seeming like a rapture.
On the street are hyenas with fangs that devour,
In fear our soul reside and pray for help to come.

Some striving to survive, yet getting immured,
Carried away without a guilt just to pay a ransom.
Cultivating their own field and still died of gunshots,
No more deer in the headlights, the fun is gone.

When the storm will be calm remains in obscurity
When the darkness will be light is known to none.
For the cause is wild and free with the backing
of some packs of greedy dogs that need destruction.

Hard, honest and direct words shared my friend.
"When the storm will be calm remains in obscurity
When the darkness will be light is known to none.
For the cause is wild and free with the backing
of some packs of greedy dogs that need destruction."
The above lines are true. Greedy dogs make profit in the chaos. Guns and weapons. Biggest and richest contractors. Thank you my friend for sharing the outstanding poetry.

It saddens me to have certain already known facts, however dark and sinister they might be, reinforced by such a talented poet as your good self .. Sadly, I dont think the corruption, greed and brutality are going to diminish in the immediate future .. I think this is a more important post than it might first seem, made even more powerful and potent by your personal insight and the power of your pen .........

I do so hope I am wrong, and in the meantime, wish you and yours All Good Things, ... Go well and go safely .

.................. then I shall whisper one for you
I read yesterday Kay and have returned for a further read today. I can not imagine how difficult it must be to live in constant fear of daily life. Where corruption, death and violence are rife. Your poetry portrays this so well. Good to see you back posting.

Take very good care of yourself Kay
I am aware to some degree of the turmoil in Nigeria. A Nigerian expatriate living in London recently posted a fiery offering about a police unit called the SARS. I hope you are safe.

Thank you.
I think it has to be such torture to not feel safe in your own homeland.
A really volatile situation...and strong words written about it.
