A Maple Leaf

A Maple Leaf

A Poem by Kay
"

Existing in one world, living in another.

"

So far away from home

lost in endless grey

and separate from your world

What should be familiar

has become a stranger

waves hit the dock

whitecaps collapse

under steely overcast skies

The places I once knew

now upside-down and twisted;

is a world placed on a carousel

a cruel and mocking smile

not even Alice could get out

A loss of self and subjection

to the twisted path

in the perfect maze

One world, in two realities

one where I am far ahead

on the same dock, but not

beneath the crushing sky

So far away indeed, we are

in a world within a mind

yet all I crave is home

Wind slips from between the cracks

a cool mist coats my face

startled back by sudden shock

a fiery red leaf drifts on the wind

Ushered into my grey world

where the walls tremble

the red maple leaf

a calling card

a reminder of…

of my home

it is always here;

a message in a bottle
