Sophie Mary

Sophie Mary

A Poem by Keith
"

Flying home to meet my new granddaughter.

"
.
She appeared on Facebook,
After much anticipation.
OMG she's beautiful!
The most common exclamation.
Many comments and likes,
With every post.
Such proud parents,
Entitled to boast.
Is that really a smile,
On her tiny sweet face?
Peering from her blanket,
So content in that place.
The name Sophie Mary
Makes such a soft sound,
So easy to whisper,
Inspiring peace all around.

Her arrival sees the end
Of her doting parent's wait.
It is a princess's priviledge
To be just a little late.
I wish this plane would fly faster,
Its a bit overdue.
I can't wait for a hold,
I want my place in the queue.

Oh Keith, how gorgeous! Congratulations! Had to giggle at the last verse! At first I thought the baby was born on the plane!! Then realized YOU were travelling for your 'hold'
Soft and gorgeous. Loved reading this and always enjoy those bits of humour you instill into your poems.

Thanks again WW, written on a Sydney Melb flight home from a work trip.
I liked the whole read and then the twist in the end of this piece:

I wish this plane would fly faster,
Its a bit overdue.
I can't wait for a hold,
I want my place in the queue.
