Best Poetry. (rhyme or not?)

Ok, I am having a crack at this too, so here's my 2c worth.

Paint a picture

tell a story,

share your sorrow

howl your glory.

Take me where

I've never been,

show me sights

as yet unseen.

Make me laugh

Or make me cry,

if really sad

my tears I'll dry.

Lift my spirit

stir my soul,

arouse my senses

make me whole

These things I seek

in  reading time,

for me its bonus 

with a rhyme.

Me? I love a rhyme and am always pleased when a piece unfolds to rhyme. Like alliteration, metaphor, symbolism, and meaningful allusion, I feel a well-crafted rhyme improves a poem. But, of course, meaning should drive a poem and not a rhyme. Does that make sense?

And here, you used rhyme as a tool to keep the eye on the page and illustrate you meaning superbly. Thank you.

Rose, I have a confession to make! This actually started life in my review of your gorgeous piece 'To Rhyme or Not.......' After afew minutes of typing I thought maybe this is going somewhere, did a cut and paste of what I'd written and this turned up about half an hour later. You and Sheila did really start something here, we are getting great feedback!

It was one those bloody WC goes to sleep things at the time. I had hit post and it went off with the pixies. As I tend to type long RRs in notepad I had a copy to go on with to develop my poem, looks like the orig post never made it.

Ah ha, so now Keith has his 2 cents in - and BRAVO another "rhymer" joins in!! Yep, rhyming is my game as its just like my second name.......OK I know it's corny, bu helps to get the point across that rhyming is just natural for some!!
We "rhymers" have to stick together! Thanks for the plus vote for words that float our boat!
