Love At First Touch.

Love At First Touch.

A Poem by Kelsey

"Don't cry, hush".
You whisper the words in my ear,
Your voice chilling the veins throughout my body.
Your arms, tightly hugging me,
Yearning for me to stay there forever.
Your fingers glide over my cheekbone,
brushing a loose strand of hair back behind my ear.
My head pressed against your chest,
I listen to your beating heart,
A rhythm I could listen to endlessly.
We listen to the rain pour down around us.
My tears no longer streaming,
Instead the rain soaks my soft skin.
Without a doubt, I know.
I know just by the way you look at me,
The way you hold me,
The way you speak to me.
I know you are the one that I only ever dreamed of.
You hold me closer, as it gets colder.
The sound of sirens, getting closer,
Still closer..
The men in uniform step out of the ambulance,
The sirens so loud, we can barely obtain our thoughts.
"Can you tell me what happened?",
One yells over the constain patter of rain,
and the still blaring sirens.
"Sir, I believe she slipped and fell",
He said, lifting me up,
His arms still holding me.
I, still never wanting him to let go.
"And her name?",
The uniformed man speaks, breaking the moment of silence.
"I'm afraid I just met her",
My future lover replies.
Have we really only just met,
I wonder silently?
Love at first touch, I suppose.
