Arachnophobia

Arachnophobia

A Poem by Kenneth Nicholas Lowe

It was a fear I learnt, It brew as a child
No ration, no cause, fear doesn't lie
It grew deep to the bone, the bond was cast
To live in fear, to be plagued by the past
To wither this fear, to overcome this fate
I shall wear it like a badge, an anti social bait

An angel shall carry this task at hand
To grow out the fear, to my kin, a man
The tide of pain, at first, should be held
And then to engrave my fear, till it swells
As all about me grew numb and shark focused
It was over, thus quick, I hadn't noticed

The fangs, the hair, the artistic dye
The legs, the virility, the Irish pride
No more shall I fear, no more shall I hide
Fin, carry me home, where amongst it I lie
