The Great walls

The Great walls

A Poem by Kenneth Nicholas Lowe

I saw Nikita Khrushchev, he was gazing at a wall
He stood before his predecessor's greatest feat, barbed wired and tall
He asked, if this is where Humpty had his imaginary fall
I glared into his confused eyes, No comrade, Not at all

Is this supposed to keep the Mongols out, from expansion, pillage and slaughter
No comrade, It's not the greatest Chinese blunder

Is this to keep the celts at bay, from the rape of Christian Rome
No comrade, haven't you read, Hadrian had no Germanic home

Is this to keep the Turks confined, to being the lords of only Asia.
No comrade, it was in Asia Minor and 4 times thicker

Is this to keep, The rebel slaves encircled, for crucifixion along the line
No comrade, this is far too high, for any gladiator to climb

Is this to keep, the allies at sea and protect the might of the third reich
No Comrade, the sea can't be seen, for a hundred bloody miles

Well, is it to keep, the US jobs away from new world American slaves
No comrade, that was just a fence, here you can't return to jump again

It has to be a Jewish plot, to keep rockets from the Valley of Elah
No comrade, the Jews have long since left, after a frenzied nazi flotilla

Is this to keep, the white walkers out and confined to the lands of perpetual winter
No comrade, what are you high on, what ever gave you this wonder?
