Drunk on the Idea of Love

Drunk on the Idea of Love

A Poem by Frito
"

Most of us think a relationship will fix everything, but it really doesn't. When it doesn't work out we're left even more hurt than we were before. Don't rush things, it will all come to you in time

"

We’re all drunk on the idea of love

That it will solve everything and fix us one by one

We chase after everyone who glances our way

And then end up even more broken than we were when we begun

We all think it will make us more happy

But those late night texts soon leave

The wasted nights of sleep

Will fix everything, so we believe

We give them all our time

Hours on the phone and planning out the next event

This relationship will last forever

This, only this will make us content

But then their love starts to falter

The texts get shorter the hugs are more rare

“Im too busy” is the new excuse

It just doesn't seem right or fair

Then after days of unsent texts

You see them typing, it seems so long

And just like that as you wait

They say this relationship is all wrong

Now you’ve lost all your joy

Because you built your life on a false reality

You would of been better off alone then hurt

Drunk on the idea of love
