The massacre of my friends

The massacre of my friends

A Poem by M.Kilani

The massacre of my friends

I left didn’t look back at thee

Leaving them to their phone calls

Leaving them without the me

And got back home

Back to the empty cups on my disk

To an ashtray full of cigarettes

Back to the music that makes me numb

Back to “nothing to lose” and “life is a risk”

Lonesome was their only gift

My only friend is in my head

Back to long sleepless summer nights

All that came back the moment I left

To a dark place I came back

To the lonely red radio light

Visited by the amber of a cigarette

The friend of coffee that’s color is black

Why do I need them who needs a friend

Alone I have always been alone I shall end

After being them , after reflecting themselves

After digging their lost souls within

Finding myself became a sin

Is that what I deserve for being me?

For letting my soul out, for being free

Or is it because of their jealousy

Perhaps they are blind, or I’m invisible to see

Another great piece...loneliness...finding oneself...the loss of friends..who perhaps were not true friends...finding solace in sensory things such as cigarettes and coffee...You speak for many

pain, emanating from every stroke of ink, saying who needs a friend, is screaming, someone befriend me! nicely written

I like roaming alone. I don't like time limits. When I was young. I didn't like to travel with people. When you are alone you can do what you want to do. Friendship is needed also. World is too busy today. Rare occasions for long talks and great laughter. A powerful poem. In a life we allow few people in to see our mind and heart. A excellent poem.
