Fool

Fool

A Poem by M.Kilani

Why even bother, already I know the end

Left alone until the dawn, strength I’ll pretend

This is how it will be

Homeless more than free

In the corner in the shades

Counting hours till sun fades

Nicotine stains and tears

And more wasted years

Dismay runs in vein

And heart beats in vain

Escaping what is real

For taking down the veil

Despair in return

And I will never learn

That every rose has a thorn

To be cut then die alone

Another leap to the grave

Three parts fool, one part brave

very interesting romp through despair. Sort of an alic in wonderland version. That may just be the rhyme scheme, but I like it, it creates a foil for the theme. and the image of every rose dying alone is fantastic
