All the Money in the World

All the Money in the World

A Poem by Kim Stegeman
"

Its really personal. It has to do with my family and how its not going to well.

"

All the money in the world

Money is responsible,

For everything.

It’s the source

Of many bad things

In this world.

It’s the source

Of my dads

Loneliness and

Lack of friends.

It’s the source

Of my moms

Need for more,

Need to win.

He had everything

Yet he still had nothing.

No emotions,

No family,

No friends.

She had everything

Yet she never had enough.

No food,

No time,

No freedom.

They both grew up

To be greedy.

To always want more.

They want me!

They want my brother!

How am I supposed

To pick a side.

I love both of them.

It is still all moneys fault.

He taught them to fight,

To get what they want,

To always take what they

Get.

At my dads

I have all the money

In the world.

I have everything

And everyone at my feet.

I can do what I want,

I get what I need,

Yet I still have all the

Friends, family and emotions

I need

At my moms

I don’t have

All the money in the world.

I need to fight for what I

Need and want.

Yet I still have food on my table,

The freedom the feel and think

And the time to understand.

To understand life, family and friends.

This is a stirring revelation and the emotion is raw. The dilemma is understandable and the solution is uncertain.
As one that stands apart, your pain is evident. I've been where you are.
In time you will chose your own obsession. Whatever we focus upon takes us captive, we must serve our treasure whether it is a good master or not.
We can not chose the focus for another, although their choices consume them and make us evaporate.
However we may more clearly evaluate what treasure we decide to serve.
Chose compassion, if you have the strength. For it is a master that gives more than it takes.
