Dear Mother

Dear Mother

A Poem by Kimiko Watson

They say we don’t write letters anymore, but I hope this letter finds you.

You left me on the wayside like garbage for my father to find me.

You left me there like I was trash,

Unwanted, unworthy of love.

You left me there not thinking of me, but solely thinking of you.

How can you call yourself a mother?

A mother of heartbreak and abandonment?

A mother that left her child to go through physical, verbal and emotional abuse?

A mother that never protected her child from pedophiles.

What type of mother allows her daughter to be left in a household where she was robbed of her innocence?

A mother that lives at knee city, A mother that prays, but never stays.

A mother that wants to be like Jesus but never utters the words “I love you?”

A mother that I am so angry at.

A mother that never shows up for the important events in my life.

A mother that never apologizes.

A mother that didn’t fight hard enough for me.

A mother that I do not love. (Rept. 3)

A mother, a mother, a mother, but not a mom.

Sincerely,

Your broken child.
