Nescitis (nescies)

Nescitis (nescies)

A Poem by Alex Vidmar

Si semper animadverto
Quod fecit ad me.
Si semper invenire
Cicatrices ego abscondita.

Numquam intelligere
Id quod fecisti mihi
Non intelligere
Et numquam.

Ad infernum. At ego omnis dico.
Ire adolebit et mori. Cum quod maledicam te.
Quid fecisti mihi
Potest non aedificavit.

Visus oculi est a, dico ...
Non intelligere.
Et scio ...
Numquam intelligere.

Translation (from Latin)

You Don't Understand (You Will Never Understand)

If you ever realize
What you did to me.
If you ever discover
The scars I've hidden.

You will never understand
Exactly what you've done to me
You don't understand
And you never will.

Go to hell. That's all I can tell you.
Go burn and die. With that I curse you.
What you've done to me,
Cannot be repaired.

From the look in your eyes, I can tell...
You don't understand.
And I know...
You will never understand.

Why did I ever abandon my study of Latin? My bemoaning of study choices now over let's attend to the poem. I enjoyed the spiteful and biting nature of the piece, in the original and translation. Each word is bitter as the cud and spat out with such venom that I applaud. Bravo!

Ignorance of one's actions and the harm they create is cause for even greater damnation, than those who do so with malice of forethought. Ignorance implies that one did not care even in the first place to ponder if their action would harm; malicious thought at least acknowledges the harm the action will do but chooses to ignore it.

Those thoughts aside I enjoyed the piece immensely, might make me take up Latin again. I am one of those person's who has a smattering of a dozen languages but is master of only one, a fact I am most ashamed of. But I ramble again. I shall finish, as I should have begun, saying bravo!

I feel like I could feel your pain when I read this. It is a very striking, very raw, true piece. I enjoyed it immensely and even really liked how you have it posted in both Latin and English

Why do you curse someone who doesnt understand his fault? :)
I felt pitty on that who didnt understand and would never understand.

And actually i liked the way it sounds in Latin, especially the title 'Nescitis (nescies)'
