Not a Home Yet

Not a Home Yet

A Poem by Katarina T.
"

Self love is a hard process for some people, me included. Figuring out that we need to be loving and kind to ourselves might be the way to start.

"

I have decided

That the curves on my body are the walls that hold a beautiful soul

And a mind full of quirks worth loving

That this home is only a home when I’m in it and am kind to it,

What and who I let into my home has to be of love,

But I also have to be a better hostess

A welcoming hostess.

It won’t be easy to fill my house when it has been empty for so long

But there is so much space worth filling

So much space to look at,

Admire,

Appreciate.

Maybe if I were an interior designer, I would know what to do with this house,

What couches look good where,

What pillows match the carpet,

Whether or not I should have wooden or marble floors.

However,

I am not an interior designer,

I don’t know what will make this house feel like home.

All I know is that I live here,

In these curves,

And it’s the only house I will have in this lifetime

So I best make it feel like something worth living in.

Think you hit the nail on the head. Sometimes we're a little over critical with ourselves. Negative and negative definitely don't achieve positive. So what can we do about it? Strangely enough, we can do anything we want. Little changes and bright colours transform you and the house together.
