Coffee

Inhaling the earthy vapor, I take a fawn-colored sip.

Sweet and lively as Bambi.

The aching subsides.

My eyes are no longer drooping. 

On a plush love seat,

I'm swaddled in knit things. 

Warming my esophagus, I counter the nip of the draft.

Draught would be an excellent substitution. I drink coffee for warmth over being parched though :) well...unless it's iced coffee on a hot day...

Sounds as if this is an outdoor activity, perhaps on the way to work or study? Nicely portrayed. The first four lines focussing on the coffee effect and the last three setting the scene.

I see it more as being in a coffee shop surrounded by laptops and writers or being in my home near a large window. But it's really whatever you want to take from it with your own coffee experience. It's meant to evoke nostalgic feelings and memories associated with the beverage. Thank you for the kind words.

Did esophagus come to mind naturally or did you SEARCH your mind for more of a word to use - just asking...

Coffee is a very breath of life and often enough it chills unseen and forgotten...

Honestly, I've enjoyed using the word esophagus since I learned what it was in my 8th grade health class. I enjoy the sound of it - the use of 4 different vowels sound like a song to me.

I like tea, I dont mind a cup of coffee every now and then, something to keep me awake, even though it never does lol. I like flavored coffee drinks "sometimes"
