Here Hoping

I lost sight of all the people

the lost the abused

everyone has their own issues

the confused and the used

I lost sight of what life is about

what am I to do when there is nothing

left of you, nothing left but bits of things

I used to know

I want to know where do we all go

when our souls are stone cold and

I'm left here suffocating in the coals

of what's left of my heart

Is there a new beginning, a fresh new start

for the ones who fought it all, lost it all

Is there a place where we can see the beauty

that's deeply hidden underneath all the scars

from a life so deeply broken

Here hoping, I feel a spark of what little I have left

Here hoping that you are not like all the rest who walked

away and left me to my death

Pondering the destination to which we go after parting from the physical world amid the storm of turmoil that follows you and has caused you to lose your way in life . . . I like the unsaid implication in this poem, that the speaker cares not for life and instead diverts all their thoughts towards what happens when they die, just so they could be prepared . . .
'Tis nothing more saddening than somebody mentally preparing themself for death.
