Flowered Hat

Flowered Hat

A Poem by Knightingale
"

A poem...

"
The faded green paint
upon these walls
of photographs
in shades of faint
memories that call
me back to smiles and laughs...

reminds me of summers
when we were young;
under a newborn sun
in your green dress
in green fields
of sunflowers and oak trees
beneath starry skies
in star-lit dreams.

And while the paint is faded
in our small flat
your smile has not lost any power;
shaded beneath your flowered hat
in that green dress you just bought
these early summer hours
make me wonder.

To the first time
I saw that smile
as a young child
wild and carefree;
in my mother's flower shop
how you stopped and stared at me
an ocean storm
and a summer breeze.

You're nearly dressed now
asking me
if you look okay.
I smile
and kiss your lips
there's nothing left to say.
