Choking

Choking

A Poem by M.a. Benjamin

 Choking on my misery

One breath at a time

The heart of a nagging vein pulsates

Like a dying ember in a pile of ash

A bitter taste of self-hate races up

Right to the tongue’s tip and ready to jump

There’s no place left for me

I can’t be seen in mortal mirrors

And I’d rather burn alive

No howling of agony

Silent acceptance of mine

And whatever I deserve in the aftermath

Bring unto me

A shell of nothing that will ever be

I love the imagery in this, and i can empathize, which makes it even more poignant.

Its beautiful! Tragic and beautiful and lonely.
