Dead Monsters

Dead Monsters

A Poem by Kane Hagwood

May your eyes lay witness

To the blood before you this night

Though never my choice to engage with monsters

Monsters meet their end when we fight

Do you not see the hounds behind me

Who walk in pace with my outline

Feeling power of incantation

Pouring down my spine

Has your Father not appointed

That He is both the darkness and the light

So monsters may you feel
Fury of heaven and hell’s might

Friend both likely and strange

Stand by my side when challenge offers dread

For monsters of doubt, fear, and sorrow

Now lay at my feet

Dead

Author's Note

Kane Hagwood
I've been trying to edit a story for the past few days, and wanted to share some poetry in the meantime. I was inspired to write a poem as a reminder to myself, that even though times are tough, I've "slain monsters" before. I hope this little piece inspires you to fight your own monsters, whoever you may be. The picture provided is more so for filler, though reminds me of a view I see almost every day.
