It reminds me of you

It reminds me of you

A Poem by Kris Jansen

Raindrops fall and splash against my window.
It's quiet but peaceful, they remind me of you.
It's dark but my life is as bright as the sun,
All thanks to the things that you have done.
I drift into a land of purity and love.
I pass by a dove, it reminds me of you.
I walk through and innocent dream of happiness.
One that will never be crushed or torn apart.
You are waiting to take my hand,
Because from now on, alone, we will never stand.
We lay by the water and put our feet inside it,
A daisy pedal floats by, it reminds me of you.
The tide comes in and splashes against us,
We move from the water and head for a bridge.
The sun is setting but this love never will.
I needed you then and I need you still.
We begin to stare into each others eyes,
Knowing that each of us would never tell a lie.
I spot a heart shaped cloud, it reminds me of you.
Your body is shaking and your heart is racing.
I rest my hand upon your cheek,
And kiss you lips for what felt like a week.
Here we stand on this wonderful land.
The scenery is beautiful, it reminds me of you.
You will never be forgotten whether or not I awake.
I will stay in this dream if my life is at stake.
Wake me if I am most needed to be addressed.
With you by my side, I truly feel blessed.
The image has shifted from a dream to a nightmare,
But no matter how terrifying, together we are not scared.
I am released from the pain and I am helped by a cane.
I fall back into reality and the storm is still here,
But with you on my mind I have nothing to fear.
A dream begins to form but this one is new.
Everything is perfect, it reminds me of you.
