In writing a song about it we may be communicating our own intentions to them within, to say why we need to leave the anima and childlike natures behind and grow into responsibility in the world. It is the beginning of the understanding of who we are.

I really liked this, it hit home for me. Growing old is something you don't think about until it happens... Like losing innocence. And then you look at the world around you and realize you're now wiser than you once were, you now know things you once didn't. And maybe a part of you wishes for the past. This poem had a sad overtone to it when I read.
