Game We Play

Game We Play

A Poem by Krystal

This game we play.
The one we call life.
The earth is our board.
Our choices are the
cards we picked.
The dice we roll?
Those are the risks we've taken.
We are the pawns.
Those who push us
from square to square?
Those are our parents.
They have shown us
right from wrong
They claimed us when we were
rebellious or misbehaved.
If we can't trust those
who move us.
Then how can we trust
ourselves
In this game we call
Life?

I like this, it's abstract and beautiful. I also like the methaphor for life as a game because I've always thought about it that way. Life is a game or a puzzle, you've got to put the pieces in the right spot or make sure you don't get knocked off the board like in Sorry. Though, don't you think it's a bit unfair that way? I dunno, it seems like that's penalizing us for mistakes- if it was a game I mean. But it's true, we are criticized for making mistakes even though we are all human and bound to make them. Anywhoozer ba Doozer, good poem!!
