The Pills

The Pills

A Poem by Krisen Lison
"

More mindless venting...I was diagnosed bipolar a little while ago and this is what came of it today. I guess it's from my psychiatrist's point of view

"
Take the pill
It'll make you better
Now take two
I swear it'll help

You didn't break down today
That means it's working
You didn't cry today
Your wounds are healing

I'll give you one more pill
This one will make you sleep
But I'll never tell you
The sleep will be empty

You will never dream
But it stops the nightmares
And I won't tell you
That now you can't sleep without it

Go see another doctor
Attend the weekly group
Fix things with your mother
It's all for the best

If you're depressed today
It'll be alright
This will always happen
For the first few months

Take all these pills
Soon you'll get better
But I'll never tell you
That I can never cure you

The pills build a mask
That will hide all the pain
Things will get worse
So I'll add more prescriptions

One for depression
One for the anxiety
One to knock you out at night
And many more to come

Only this bottle
Can keep you sane
And months from now
You'll come back again

Take your pills
You can fool yourself
And one day you'll be able
To convince yourself you're better

Wow! This is an amazing poem about the true affects of psychiatric drugs. It's interesting to see it from the point of view of the psychiatrist instead of yourself, although we can get a "sense" of your own thoughts and feelings.
