I am a Villain

I am a Villain

A Poem by Kuo Yisheng

Humans cannot, and will never be able to, feel compassion towards those less fortunate than them.

If you're sitting in a dark room, and someone steps on your hand. They do not know, but you give them the benefit of the doubt.
You don't say anything.
But if you are polite, how many times will you let your hands get stepped on before you pop.
You yell at them for doing it, and distance yourself so they cannot step on you again.

Consider.

You're pacing through a pitch black room with a friend.
Suddenly they yell at you for repeatedly stepping on their hand, though you had no idea.
If it was really an issue they should have just brought it up, right?

I would destroy this world with utter indifference.
I would tiredly wave my hand and topple skyscrapers, or
flick my wrist and level a city.

Floating up above the lights at night.
Speckles, dots, ants.

I will probably destroy this world

emotionless as explosions reflect off my unblinking eyes
no compassion for life
Finally, I'm just like the rest of the world

I could always see in the dark, but didn't understand why people couldn't despite their eyes being open.
It infuriated me that people would bump into others or step on hands, because I can see fine in the dark, why can't they?

I tried to make their eyes adjust, but they just couldn't adapt.

Consider.

You're in a pitch black room. Walking around, sometimes you bump into people, no big deal none of us can see anyway.
But then you meet someone that can apparently see...in the dark.

They get more upset with you when you bump into people or when you bump into them, because they can supposedly see in the dark.

This person is annoying, they're irritating.
They yell at me for something I cannot perceive.

Do you see the frustration?
Do you see the distance?
Do you see the superiority?

I am tired of guiding blind mice, I'd rather place rat traps.
