We Weren't Speaking!

We Weren't Speaking!

A Poem by Kwiksie Ifediora
"

Forgiveness was never for the next guy...

"

He asked me sadly, “Why?”

And I jumped up with an indignant cry.

“We weren’t speaking!” I exclaimed.

“I’m not the one who suddenly changed.

They would see me and act they don’t;

Am I now to beg and dote?”

At my tone, I saw Him wince.

At this I scowled; He must be convinced!

“We weren’t speaking!” I yelled again.

“I know once I called them ‘friend’.

But discovered I the title an ill fit;

Thus, with violent words, was I prompt in withdrawing it.”

He looked at me again, a crease to His brow.

My confidence in mine right had begun waning now.

“But we weren’t speaking.” I whined to He.

“Kindness I always gave; look how they repaid me.

With hardened spines of iron my heart they pierced as foe

Deem it fit I weaken and to them play the bow?”

Finally, He spoke, with streaming eyes.

“Why, my beloved, did you wallow in pride?

If thou hath obeyed and loved humbly, yonder hearts would’st have turned;

The tune of thine solo, would be not so mournful a sound.

But myself thou did’st fail and mine presence thou must leave,

For forgiveness thou abandoned and instead to malice cleaved.”

I actually found this a little comic in the beginning... the way she "Jumped up with an indignant cry", as well as her feeble attempts at making Him see things from her point of view. On a more serious note however, the message on forgiveness and our duty to Him was well communicated. And, I liked the 'King James-type' language. :)

I liked this, though I found myself feeling sorry for "her', though it was never revealed her or him, that is an assumption on my part. We don't always know, though we are told, anymore who to believe and who not. I liked this.

Pray, may thine tears be few... ;)
Thank you even more for reading Angel.
Thought provoking and the sound of a stage play in this piece.

hehe, thank you John. Was feeling a tad dramatic i must confess. :)
Reminds me of the saying "Seven days without prayer makes one weak". I like the back and forth here, the conversational tone you gave the piece. Well done!
