A Best Friend

A Best Friend

A Poem by Kylie Dunlop-Grigg
"

This is a poem I wrote about my best friend at high school

"

A best friend is someone

Who cherises the other,

Do anything for them

No matter the bother.

Who listens as you tell

Them all on your mind,

Who is never selfish

And always kind.

Who loves them for them

And expects nothing more,

And picking up pieces

Is a big chore.

A best friend tells the truth

And never lies,

Is there for them

When a loved one dies.

A best friend shares

Practically all of their possessions,

They stay up all night

And share their confessions.

A best friend you give

Your most treasured secret,

Cause you know they won't tell

And that they'll aways keep it.

All these things we need

A best friend for,

And know if there's trouble

There is always an open door.

Everything I have said

Is oh so true,

And all of these qualities

I find in you.
