A Song Without a Melody

A Song Without a Melody

A Poem by Kylie
"

What is a song without a melody? Join me as I try and define this paradox.

"

A song without a melody
is an ocean filled with changes
with notes that break like ocean waves
in a pattern which rearranges.
But oceans of all sorts can only
sing a tuneless tune,
and so a melody-less song
must be a large balloon.

A song without a melody
is like a huge balloon
so colorful and bringing joy
beneath the sun and moon.
But balloons can only do so much
and tend to bunch together,
therefore the melody-less song
must be a type of weather.

A song without a melody
is sort of like the weather
since both are never constant
which is usually for the better.
However, sometimes weather
takes a turn for the worst,
and thus a melody-less song
must be one spoken first.

This was a fun poem! I loved the analogies, and the link between the stanza's made perfect sense.
What I got out of this was that with out melody is with akin to an idea with out voice. or a story with out words. To have no tune is the have a emptiness inside. Such as with a baloon. The baloon bunches together out of static electricity and similar purpose as do water molecules in the sky that make the clouds.
I found this wonderful joy to read!

Sincerly,

I thought this was a very interesting poem. I enjoyed it.
I am not sure how the jump from ocean, to balloon, to weather is made, but don't think i am supposed to lol

I would suggest that in L3 you try removing Ocean and see how it reads without it? I was also a little unsure of L6, although I have no suggestion to change it, it just didn't seem to roll of my tongue as well as the rest..

great write, look forward to reading more
