A Political Hypocrisy

A Political Hypocrisy

A Poem by Brandon Langley
"

AKA: Let Us Free

"
"Ask not what your country can do for you," Jack once said,
"Ask what you can do for you..."
What can our country do for us, though?
But, can you grant us our human rights,
Of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit?
Or will you just not tell us of them,
And force us to blindly sign terms,
To break into our homes without warrant,
To condemn us without trial,
Yet defend our right to bear arms?
Stop your hypocrisy and stop your defense,
Of your dangerous laws and rules.
Stop your heresy and your stupidity,
Shine the light upon yourself,
Quit your blindness and let us free,
But not free to murder, to ransack, to hate,
Let us free in a world of prosperity,
In a world of flourish.
Let us free in a world of affluence,
In a world of opulence.
Let us free in this world,
but better.
