THE VICTORY BRIDGE

THE VICTORY BRIDGE

A Poem by CROWNED WITH LAURELS

Today I tear up,
rolling down 35 South,
remembering that morning,
rumbling over the bridge.
We’re riding along,
hurrying, have to get to work,
we can’t be late.
Sun glare on the windshield,
my beat up, Ford truck.
The boy strapped in his car seat,
shares his newfound faith with me:
“It is a beautiful day,
and we should thank God for it!”
Only three years old,
way too young to be so wise.

So damn true. I remember my little nephew (who I practically raised until he was about 6) asking me if I wished all the bad guys would die. How do you respond to something like that with someone so young. I told him "No, I don't. I wish they would realize that what they are doing is bad and stop doing it and start helping people instead." Hope that made an impact on him. Anyway, enough of my digressing, beautiful thought and well written. It really touched me. Bravo.
