A FUTURE LIFE

A FUTURE LIFE

A Poem by CROWNED WITH LAURELS

This remote location calls my attention.
It could be a place to live, work, and enjoy
everyday more than ever.

Getting up early to hear the sounds
of gulls hawks, and loons.
Sipping and tasting the best cup of coffee, ever.

Strolling through narrow village streets
Amongst the reeds, ponds, and foxtails
in the cleanest, safest place ever!

Carrying a chair, a blanket, my latest literary conquest.
No matter that it’s cloudy, gray, breezy
it’s by far the greatest day ever.

Back to your little cottage to eat
the classic lunch of choice with your wife
who is more beautiful and loving than ever.

The sun peeks through the clouds as you decide to
Nap in the window with the Southern exposure
on the sofa that’s more comfortable than ever.

After the restful nap, you decide to write
a poem, a play,a letter and they are all finely crafted
And seem to be the best writing ever.

Back to the beach for a few more chapters
of sea air and soft sand enjoying the time spent
reading the best book ever.

A short drive into town, we go to meet folks
at a favorite restaurant for a meal of fresh seafood
smooth wine, companionship, truly the finest meal ever.

A walk through the gas lit streets to gaze and
wonder at the Victorian homes, all the happy visitors,
enjoying the best night ever!

Back home for a final cup of coffee on the front porch.
Crickets and peepers announce spring’s return.
Breathing in the freshest air ever.

Retiring to our room to read our books again.
Turn out the lights and think of tomorrow,
because surely it will be the best day-
