Sharkey

Sharkey

A Poem by Lewis Davis-Norman
"

A little something from my childhood - no hate ;)

"

I once set off in Sharkey

For Sharkey is my boat

Dressed in a knitted jumper

And a long, thick overcoat

A faithful girl is Sharkey

She survives the wind and waves

And then we reached a cliff face

And began to explore the caves

Rocks like windswept knives

Waves like towers of sea

Beaches like golden rivers

And then there's Sharkey and me

The wind kissed the sails

And the tide pulled us to shore

Where I sat dreaming for hours

Every day, for months and years and more...

The sun peaks over the horizon at morning

The moon sits silently in the sky at night

The stars light a glittering path

And we sail together 'til the morning light.

Rocks like windswept knives

Waves like towers of sea

Beaches like golden rivers

And then there's Sharkey and me

And we sail together 'til the morning light.

I loved the write! It was childlike, yet with a maturing perspective.
You took my mind back as well.

Fun, playful, and very well written. Being a twenty year veteran of the US Navy, I know I'd enjoy a cruise on Sharkey.
