Sadness Reconvened

Sadness Reconvened

A Poem by Larry Jaffe

It was an accident
I didn't mean
to fill out the form
with unnamed expletives

But the words
just seemed
to flow from
my fingers
to the keyboard

And the resounding silence
nestled into my heart
and I could hear myself
crying with remorse
and regrets caught
in my throat

I am still alive
I am infinite

Now to stop
making all those
stupid mistakes
over and over
and over

I press the physical universe
I press myself
I press the soul
I press the soul

Well, hello there, my long lost friend. Where have you been? How are you? It was such a joy to receive your friend request. God! It's been years.

It's a wonder to see your name and read your words after so much distance. I can almost hear your voice.
