Lyrics

Lyrics

A Poem by Lola Nation

I wept a choir for that song,

I don’t know , there was just something about it

The soft voice, the desperate lyrics to get out here

The sound of the guitar strumming that simply followed behind

while the words spoke volumes,

There was too much wine involved, perhaps

There were broken hearts, harsh words

and empty spaces filling all the pages of the walls

that crowded around too tightly

I thought I met someone that fit the stereo type

I wanted so badly, I crawled to redemption

and out of the pathetic solace I called home

I traveled miles, thousands by thousands

I got lost and lost again "

Grow up show down and the last man

all were there to give me my last one

I guess I should have known

better, but there was so much more

in between the tear stained lyrics and the

insincere promises in his letter-  and I thought

I needed to get away

from you, from them and the rest

when really, I just needed

to find a clear space

I needed to sort out my head, the mess,

the lost restlessness and neatly pile it all back up

again.

Your words are probably as beautiful as that song is, if not more.

I've known that song, a few times maybe

Yes, that is exactly true.

Words of a song can have a powerful affect on us.. especially when our emotions are fragile... You make such feelings very real and conjure up the mood of sad longing
