Bear Witness

Bear Witness

A Poem by Luke Rawlings

The suit of sweat and the screech of steel,
Writhing on the ground with so much to feel.
Words and screams become sounds of surrender,
Without due thought, process or agenda.

If your mind is a castle,
It’s walls are breached.
It’s stables smouldering.
It’s defenders scattered.

Eyes glisten with tears from the spectator,
Helplessness makes him love and hate her,
Upon the anvil of submission she bends,
But his innocence has come to an end.
