Troubled

Troubled

A Poem by Luke Rawlings

A friend of a friend of a..
                                      friend.

Lonely to be alone; scary to be scared.
An ego fully grown; proposition undeclared.
A greeting to condone; people to be paired.
Glances at my phone; as if I never cared.

Four seconds
                   to three minutes
       to two days
                         to one lifetime.

Lost.

Evaporated like morning dew.

The versification in this poem is phenomenal. The format immediately pulled my attention to wanting to begin reading the poem. I love the honesty of emotions. The words seem to drip like bittersweet honey. This is an interesting write by an eclectic writer.

Hmmm...This piece sounds very personal. The way you positioned the words makes the poem have much more of an impact on the reader.
"Four seconds

to two days
to one lifetime."
I like how time progresses here. It feels very realistic to life, how time passes and things are lost, whether it be friends, or skills, or the one you love. You say lost, which is not necessarily a negative word (although the overall aura of the poem is a bit gloomy). Those things that are lost can still be found. Like the morning dew, for example; it evaporates and is lost, but in the morning it can be found again : ) Lovely as always, Luke Rawlings. Not as lovely as "The Written Word", but still lovely :D
