Let me introduce you

A story of an apparition

"You know I'm here for you!" the apparition utters in a low sweet voice

"Yes, I do. I know." I say out loud and it shocks me. My reply is mixed. Not fearful. Just contemplative. I love this thing. My friend. This volume of mist that fills my apartment. She is nothing and she is substance. 

I wish I could invite her to meet my family. How? How was that possible? What would they say? They would think me mad! Insane!

No! She is my friend. She is kind and loving. She stays with me when I am alone. We talk and she sits quietly with me when I am in need of companionship. Like a wonderful counselor, she humbly holds me tight when I am panic stricken. Always lovingly.

A mist. My imagination? Possibly an alter ego? I'm not sure. A ghost? Perhaps a vestige of a lifetime untold and re-awaken to spend her days in company with me? I wish I knew.

Maybe... she is an angel? Could be. I mean, she is so understanding and compassionate. For some reason, I don't think so. No, she is my apparition. I love her like a friend, a sister. I don't know anything more. 

But I'm glad she is here.
