Looking in

Looking in

A Poem by Delilah

When a tear starts to

roll down my cheek,

Sometimes I wonder,

in those small moments

what is flashing through their mind

regrets? memories? lovers?

I wonder then

what could have pushed them

to end it

how could it have got so bad

from when it was so good?

how did it happen.

If I could speak to them

in those last moments

I wouldn't ask them why,

even though that would be

the one question that is racing round my head,

because maybe it was everything, and nothing

all at once.

And by the time the tear has reached

my chin

They'd no longer be able to answer

In the words of Pablo Picasso, 'To draw, you must close your eyes and sing'. Perhaps rather than over thinking, one must close their eyes and let the words and their nuances flow on their own account .. more..
