The Man In Black

The Man In Black

A Poem by Jon Lattone
"

A poem I wrote about Johnny Cash a few years ago.

"

Johnny Cash, the man in black,
Stands tall with his guitar.
In the dressing room, behind the door
He lights abig cigar.

A young boy born in Arkansas,
His future yet unkown.
There will never be a voice again,
Like J.R Cash the baritone.

As a boy he never had shoes on his feet,
And used clothes were always passed down.
Listening to music was his happy place,
Upon which his father would frown.

A powerhouse sound with a simple introduction
Is how he started each bash.
By stating at the beginning,
Hello, I`m Johnny Cash.

He sang about a ring of fire,
And years of trouble and pain.
The greatest wish that he did have,
Was the chance to start again.

He spent his adult married years,
And their hearts did beat as one.
Her name was June Carter,
And they shared his only son.

His voice would rumble like the thunder,
Every time he would sing.
He was honored in the Hall of Fame.
Sold out crowds he`d always bring.

`Man in Black`, the song, rose to number one,
`Cry, Cry, Cry` was one of his best.
But on September 12th 2003,
The man in black was laid to rest.

He was a man who had a hard and good life. He never complain. He loved his fans and his music is living on. Thank you remembering one of my favorite people.

NICE
great tribute for the man in black,

overall its well written and has a great consistent flow/rhythm.. the words dont exactly carry alot of emotion, but i dont think its necessary as much for this piece, love this
good job

I thought the poem was nicely written, but it seemed like it was missing some emotion. It was a nice recounting of his life.
