Ne Obliviscaris

Ne Obliviscaris

A Poem by Lauren Xena Campbell
"

My personal musing of my families history.

"

While lineage weights its wings on the airstream,

This lass is forced to deem the kilts,

Theses highland Bully rooks, de Campo Bello,

From the hazy moorlands and Munro peeks,

The osprey follows the lochs, to the rowan of families,

Ne Obliviscaris

These Black Watch tartans finish the conflicts,

That they started for castle and kingship,

This Brabble with the blood of revenge,

Pipe ‘Baile Inneraora’, to see how the battle ends,

And all that a snarling boars head represents,

 Ne Obliviscaris

Century’s boldness for Title and deeds,

Thee are the kin of thistle land supreme,

And this Ladyship shall always hark back to,

History and feat from the clan caim beul,

And the Dundee domain, from which she came,

 Ne Obliviscaris

Author's Note

Lauren Xena Campbell
Ne Obliviscaris means never forget and is my families motto. de Campo Bello and caim beul translate as carved/crooked mouth and are variant spelling of French and Latin of Campbell. And Baile Inneraora is the Campbell clans bagpipe music (the Campbells are coming). I mention Dundee in this text as it is where the last member of my family to live and be born in Scotland was from, My grandfather Ronald Ogg Campbell . Black Watch is the tartan used by both the Royal Highland Regiment and Clan Campbell and is the tartan you are most likely to see in Scotland. The snarling bores head in the picture is also my family crest.

Great job. I like historic subjects. It is also cheering to see a young person valuing such a rich tradition. In a shifting world, history and family links can be anchors which give us a sense of who we are, what we are part of and where we belong. And it is these links of families that made a nation.
