Walking The Plank With Courage

Walking The Plank With Courage

A Poem by Tricia Pattinson

Walk The Plank With Courage
by Tricia Pattinson

Gruff and hard the ship of life
Blown and rocked by invisible tides
Beaten and fleeced by creatures deep
Tossed like a salad, yet the banquet is managed

Captains all in mind
Mutineers sublime
Midshipmen sharpening eyes
Cooks sustaining life

We change our roles
Like water, we ebb and flow with the Moon Goddess
Together or alone, quickly or slow
We roam the waves and storms - we weather

When barnacles have clung enough
And sails are white washed by Rain and Sun
The shipmate is readied for the sea beyond
And walks the plank with courage
